We've been to both and enjoy both and will return to both but I think we prefer Desire overall for many of the reasons you mentioned. Desire is a bit more upscale. For us, the couples only policy at Desire is a big plus. It only takes a couple of single creeps to ruin a good vibe at Hedo and unfortunately, we've experienced that problem a few times. What we did like a bit better at Hedo was the participation in the theme nights, especially if a large group is there. We also liked that the nude area at Hedo was nude and not clothing optional.
Desire is MUCH easier to get to. Much shorter shuttle or cab ride. There also seemed to be far fewer cameras at Desire than at Hedo which may not matter to some but it's a big deal for us.
