Shortest summary: My wife was extremely concerned and scared about many elements of this trip before we left. Concerned about everything from her inhibitions and body image concerns to what it would do to us as a couple. Now, that we are home, we can’t wait to book a return trip and can’t imagine a vacation anywhere else. It was pretty funny when we were in the airport and we overheard a couple saying they had the “best vacation ever”. We looked at each other and whispered, “no they didn’t.” It was that kind of trip, so good, we knew there was no possible way anyone not staying at Desire could possibly have had as much fun as we did.
Long winded version:
1. NAKEDNESS/PDA’s : If you’ve made it this far in your research, hopefully you realize that there are going to be some naked people here…actually there’s quite a few….well, really everyone is. You will see bodies of all shapes, sizes, proportions, lengths, etc. Funny part is no one notices anything. I know, if you are a newbie reading this you probably don’t believe me, but seriously no one cares. Really they don’t.
Now, when you take this many naked people and put them together in an erotic atmosphere, there is going to be some sex…well, maybe a lot… OK, truth is it can be pretty abundant at times and places. I don’t want to make it sound like an all out sex show, but there is definitely some sex going on.
How much you see of this is going to depend on where you are in the resort. The Jacuzzi can have quite a bit at times while other times none at all. And the Sin Room….well yeah it’s the Sin Room.
If you’ve never been in this type of setting before, you will most likely go through a momentary culture shock before you get used to it as the norm. Pretty quick you will meet people for the first time naked and not even think about it. Actually, if they have a towel on you may think they are over dressed!
And if you get used to hanging out in the Jacuzzi, at some point in your trip you may find yourself talking to someone and not even realize there is a guy sitting near you getting…ummm…“satisfied” until someone points it out.
2. RESORT: It’s definitely not a Four Seasons, and I don’t mean that to sound bad. They just have some stuff to fix and things to do. Its mostly minor stuff, but it needs done. If I had to compare it, I’d say very nice Marriot. That’s not a knock, it’s a very, very nice resort, but the resort itself needs some maintenance.
3. STAFF: Absolutely Four Seasons, top of the line caliber. Some of the best service and attention we have received any place we have stayed. I could go on and on here.
4. FOOD: I’ve seen some critical comments on the food. Honestly I don’t understand why. We found the food to be top notch. No complaints here at all.
5. PEOPLE: I’ve seen in here numerous times that the people make the resort. There is no other more succinct or accurate way to put it. The resort was booked full during our stay, and we really did not meet anyone that we did not like. We have travelled a lot over the years and we made more friends on this 5 day trip than all of our other trips combined. At the risk of getting philosophical, there is something about getting naked and dropping the airs we have to keep in the “real world” that makes it easy to get to know each other.
6. SWINGERS: As newbies, we were a bit concerned about the swingers and how aggressive that element would be. Despite what I have read elsewhere, in our experience, there was absolutely zero uninitiated touching or groping going on. As newbies, we have no baseline or comparison to really say if it’s a great lifestyle place or not, but if I had to venture a guess, I’d have to say that it likely is. But, most importantly if you aren’t into it, you need not worry.
Strange as this may sound…I have more concerns about leaving my wife alone to go to the bathroom in our local nightclub than in the Jacuzzi at its wildest moments.
7. ATTIRE: Seems silly to me, but this is a big question for a nude resort. And the simplest answer is slinky is best but anything goes. Breakfast and lunch attire was pretty much what you’d see in any beach resort. Dinner was sexy slinky, and theme nights were, well, theme nights.
8. THEME NIGHTS: Girls, go for it. Seriously, you will not be the most outlandish. No matter what you are thinking there will be something more daring, go for it. Guys, same thing applies, you will not be the most outrageous outfit, and you will not stick out if you dress up. I’d say about 50-60% of the guys did it up on theme nights, and it was great fun to see. Again, no one really cares what you do, but where else can you go out in the wildest outfit you can dream up and not be out of place?
9. BEACH: It’s a narrower beach, but despite that fact, it’s very nice. Definitely not the nicest I’ve ever been on, but often times it had the best views!
10. POOL: We only spent one day at the pool, but it was a great time, and there was a lot going on with the entertainment staff that made it a very enjoyable experience.
11. JACUZZI: At times there are about 50-60 drunk, horny, naked people hanging out. Science says stuff is likely to go down then…and it does. That said, its not always as in your face as it sounds. It’s worth pointing out that we met some really great people and made some great friends in that Jacuzzi…without doing them.
12. SIN ROOM: It’s called a sin room for a reason…people have sex in here (I know, shocking). There are a bunch of couches/beds, a sex swing, porn on the TV, etc…there isn’t much I can tell you other than we liked it.
13. OVERALL: I truly feel it’s impossible to go here and not have a good time. If you don’t, then it’s likely just not for you. There is a reason you meet so many people who will say, “Oh we remember our first trip here last year. This is our third trip since.”
We had the absolute best time we can imagine and will definitely be back as soon as we can!
