First Time...Feb 7th

Apologize if this is long however as a newbie, we felt that the trip reports were the best source of knowledge/information and in deciding whether to take our first trip. In our early 30s, this was our first trip to either a clothing optional or lifestyle resort. In fact it took over a month of convincing to get the wife to agree and I would say she was still very hesitant until the moment we arrived (typical personal hang-ups). We went hoping to just meet fun people and spice up our own relationship (as we had NEVER swung  ). Importantly we did discuss briefly what each of us would not be comfortable doing (even under perfect conditions with perfect people); although again our intent was to really only play together in an exhibitionist environment. We really didn’t want to put any expectations or limit anything that was ok with both of us IF the situation and people were right.

The flight from Miami was uneventful however Cancun customs were a mess taking over 1 ½ hrs to get thru customs. This of course made finding our transportation (Transbeach thru the resort) very challenging to find although we did it find after being harassed for a good 20 min and a drink!
Warmly greeted with glasses of champagne and quickly sent over to Renata for info about the resort and the sales pitch. Quickly turned down the sales pitch and she really didn’t press. Were told our room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm so we went to grab lunch; it was at this point that my wife realized that we seemed like pervy voyers being the only ones clothed! After lunch we went back by the front desk and were told that our room was ready early which was nice as we were ready to get out of our clothes (and didn’t want to risk putting carry-ons with money/jewelry etc in the spa locker)

Our gardenview room was on the far end of the resort which was great for getting some quite nap times/sleeping in however a little annoying when having to grab something from the room etc. Hot water was plentiful however just don’t flush or use the sink at the same time or you may burn yourself to death. Bed was comfortable, again nothing special but fine. The room was adequate, nothing fancy but really we were not in it very much.

Weather was great except for the first day and ½ which were chilly and very windy (resulting in periodically covering up with towels). Rained 3 days however was very brief and often a very refreshing break from the hot sun.

Plenty of beach beds which we never had an issue getting at any time of day. Mainly used the beach beds in the am to get some rest from the previous night. Decided against paying the $20 to reserve given that we found the pool to be much more of the social place and enjoyed making new friends. There are lots of mini circular beds and chaises that were very comfortable around the pool and Silvie did a great job ensuring all had their drinks! One annoying thing is that other guests would reserve both pool chaises and beach beds in the morning and then never use pool chaises until late pm if at all. But, we were always able to find something--beach chairs or beach beds. The EC staff was very entertaining, especially Nikki (love her) and Elsa (only been at Desire 2 weeks) who we got to know pretty well. The games ranged from volleyball to trivia to various sex games that provided a great lead into hot tub time! Would say 99% of the people were nude which was nice after reading how people were experiencing more clothed as of late.

The hot tub was often crowded as early as 3:30pm until closing (except for maybe 6-8 during dinner). This is where we met so many of the people that would become our friends for the week and beyond. Action was plentiful (and very HOT  ) in the tub itself, on the side of the tub, on the loungers around the tub, and of course in the beds (except the 1st day in which it was too cold to get out so it seemed that everyone in the tub was enjoying themselves). With that said everyone was very respectful of each other and there was no cheap groping etc (at least not without asking :) Only tip for the hottub--don't announce that your son at home went poop on the potty for the 1st time. It slightly ruins the mood!! hahaha (it was hysterical though. everyone was high-fiving us!)

Our biggest “complaintâ€

We also enjoyed reading reports and gathering information prior to our first two trips last year. We are hoping to return again in August and hopefully meet up with some of the great people we met last August.

Thanks for a great report....I do have one question...we are Hedo vets but haven't been to Desire yet....do you have to get dressed up for dinner, i.e. pants, shoes, etc. and do people then go back to their rooms to change for the disco, theme nights??? I'm confused.....thanks.

We just got back from our first time at desire. For dinner people did dress up a bit. Guys in pants and shirt; women in either dress/skirt - often very sexy and sometimes extremely sexy. Most people (at least most women) then changed for the disco into something sexier or fitting the theme for the night.

Two of the restaurants men have to have pants and shoes on. Women have no dress code other then having to have something on. My wife actually got body painted before dinner and wore just a mini-mini-mini skirt with her bodypaint to dinner. Definitely attracted some attention but there were many others in sheer outfits even at dinner.

Thanks so much for the info...can guys get by with sandals or do they have to have closed toe shoes? This all seems pretty silly when you are in the Carribean.....

In the two restaurants (white and suki) they said that shoes were required. Didn't want to try my luck and have to go back to the room to change shoes just for dinner. Agree with you though that I didn't mind the pants as much as the shoes!

Bugs

Postby abbingent » Fri Feb 27, 2009 9:50 pm

we have been to Desire 9 times, and have had to battle the mosquitos a few time. But because of the large alcohol intake,we forgot when they are bad. Where they ok in Feb? we leave next week...we expect cool evenings.

We just returned a couple of days ago. Bugs were not a problem for us. Did see a couple of people with a few bites, perhaps they were on the beach after dark. The evenings were definitely cooler once the sun went down. Had to use a coverup at the lobby bar a couple of nights, but was fine as soon as we went into the disco.
