Newbie Trip Report--3/21 to 3/28/09

My wife and I just returned from our first trip to Desire and I wanted to write a review while it was still fresh in my mind. This forum was a big help to us before we went and maybe I can alleviate any fears from couples in a similar situation. We had a direct flight which took about 3 hours to Cancun. The airport was very busy due to Spring Breakers but we got our bags and navigated our way outside to find our Olympus Tours ground transportation. After about 15 minutes, we were directed to a small mini van with a couple from Iowa and four women with mustaches that I presume live in the Ukraine or somewhere. I was relieved to learn that they were staying at a nearby resort and not Desire!

The drive to Desire was very short. (about 20 minutes max) It got kind of funny because we got stopped at about 3 checkpoints by security. Each time, I was the only one in the van that had to sign a sheet. I'm sure the other folks in the van were wondering what the heck was going on but they have really tight security.

We finally pulled up to the front door of Desire which is glazed so you can't see through the glass doors. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and asked to take a seat. At this point, the guy behind the desk stated, I have you in a Gardenview Room. I replied back, no, I have paid for Oceanview and showed him my voucher. He got a puzzled look on his face and then said to give him a few moments. We then got sent over to the concierge who began her speel. Thankfully, I had learned about the timeshare/points scam on this forum and when she mentioned going to a breakfast to "learn more about the resort", I immediately said that we were not interested. She said ok and we were never approached about it the rest of the week. Just be firm and let them know how you feel and they seem to back way off.

Soon thereafter, the guy informed us that he "found" us a room. We were escorted to room 1002 which is directly behind the pool and right next door to the Japanese restaurant. To call the room oceanview is beyond belief. You had to look through a shrub, beyond the pool and beach beds, etc. to see about a one foot radius of the ocean off in the distance. It actually turned out ok though because the room location was extremely convenient to everything. We found later from some people at the pool that they had an oceanview room but had been without water for 3 days. Seems there was some type of maintenance problem. They were told they could take showers in the spa but it didn't help much with not being able to flush the toilet, etc. My wife and I wondered if that was the reason our room got moved to where we ended up.

We took the advice from this forum and immediately went to the pool where we took off our bathing suits. I struck up a conversation with a couple from Canada who were very nice and ended up being good friends the entire trip. It really is true that you will see all body types. (good and bad) No one really gives a flip though and it was quite liberating. Later in the week, we decided to put on our swim trunks and go for a walk to see the resorts on down the beach. After a short distance, I began to realize how badly I wanted to go back to Desire and get our trunks back off!

We did see many tourists from nearby resorts walk past the nude beach warning sign and gawk at everyone at Desire. Two young college guys ever had the balls to try and join in a game of horseshoes before the entertainment staff ran them off. There was a security guy posted at the fence about 20% of the time. The one bad thing is that there is little to no beach so when the tourists walk by, they are literally about 15 feet from the beds. The week we were there, there were extremely high winds which made it almost unbearable to stay on the beds. Our last day was Saturday and the beach had completely washed away. The water was up under the beach beds! I guess they will have to have sand trucked in or something.

We spent 99% of our time at the pool area. We would normally wake up about 7am and then go eat breakfast. They made a good omelet and had good selections. We would then go stake out some pool chairs. You really do need to do that before 8am or you are out of luck until someone leaves. You give the guy your room number and he puts you down for certain loungers. If you don't show up to use the loungers in two hours they pick up your belongings and give the chairs to someone else. I really liked that system but only saw someone get their stuff picked up one time the whole week.

The entertainment staff was hilarious and in particular, it was fun watching the tequila volleyball competition in the pool. If you messed up, they made you take a shot of tequila concoction. The water temperature in the pool was absolutely the coldest water I have ever seen. Very few people got in the pool due to this. I was told that they now have a water heater for the pool but won't use it until fall. Sure could have used them turning it on for at least a few hours each day but oh well.

Food at the pool side restaurant was pretty decent. You could always get a burger, chicken sandwhich, etc but also pizza and fancier type food.

About 4pm, everyone seemed to head up to the jacuzzi area. I will admit that I did initially get a bit freaked out by having a host of dicks and asses right in your face. It would usually get very crowded up there to the point it got claustrophobic. My wife and I did use the beds up at the roof top several times and this was a big turn on being watched while we were making love. Not everyone was making love on the beds. Some would just take naps or relax on them. I'm told it got pretty crazy up there at night with some having all kinds of sex on top of the bar.

I really enjoyed the disco and the theme nights. The first night was Pimps and Ho's night and that was really fun. Some folks really went all out and had good costumes. If you don't have a costume it is no big deal. Very few men dressed for the theme nights but just wore normal evening attire. The women though go all out. I cannot even describe how sexy the women looked.

The other night that we enjoyed was the new Eyes Wide Shut night. What actually happens and what I had read on this forum are two different things. If you don't have a mask or cape, they will sell you them or you can borrow the cape. Everyone assembled in the disco around the dance floor with the two stripper poles. One of the female staff members started pulling assorted women out of the crowd and brought them on stage. On the video screen behind, they were showing the movie clip showing the mansion scene. They did play some of the creepy type music while this was going on. The staff member then began encouraging the women pulled up on stage (4) to begin making out with each other, touching ,etc. Everyone else was standing around watching. I heard several people complain they didn't think it was that great, but I can tell you that the play room was packed right afterwards. My wife was the horniest I can remember in our entire 25 plus years of marriage! We used the play room almost every night. A few nights we would be the only ones or maybe one other couple. Other nights it had a lot of action going on. Primarily one male and one female but I did see some group action on several occasions. It was like watching a live porno flick.

Most people we met were very nice. There was a large group of Germans there and they seemed to keep to themselves the whole week. I think though it was primarily due to the language barrier. They stayed in the outside lobby area and even had their own d.j. parties. We never felt any pressure to swap or anything although it was definitely there if we had been inclined that way. (we don't) It was interesting to speak with others and find out they were teachers, police officers, etc.

The resort has a small gift shop where they sell snacks, costumes, vibrators, etc. as well as Viagra, Levitra and Cialis. I bought one Cialis and one Viagra and it cost about $40 U.S. On the way home at the airport in Cancun, I bought 10 Viagra for $100 so if you are going to get that stuff, it is best to buy before you get to the resort. I bought it to make sure I was ready when the time would come.

It is hard to describe but you will see so many sexy scenes from morning to night that you just about have a hard on all day. We did the massage with Claudia and she did bring me to a happy ending. My wife was so spaced out during her massage that she didn't recall being massaged down below. We also did the couples massage at the resort which was by far the best. A lady we met had told us about it the night before and it sounded great. In retrospect, I wish we had done the massage without knowing what was going to happen. It was still off the charts great though even knowing, I just think it would have been even better.

Sorry this is so long but hopefully it will be of help to any newbies. Will we go back? You bet. I am already wanting to book a return trip, maybe for new year's eve.

Great post, thanks for taking the time to do this.....truly a first timers experience that should help other "newbies" get some perspective. Like many, you are anxious to book the return trip once you get home...LOL!

I, for one, am glad to hear that you enjoyed the volleyball. This is usually my favourite activity but the last time we were there the guys playing volleyball thought they were Olympic contenders and it became a real p'''ing contest.
That Eyes Wide Shut theme....hmmm....there really are some conflicts about what actually happens that night.

Tout, My wife experienced the same thing when she played volleyball on the beach and at the pool. Some of the guys thought they were playing for a gold medal and resented that "women" were allowed to participate. They made a few comments about not having too many women on their team. This one guy in particular was way too serious about competing. Several of the women later went off on him at the pool about being an ass. He backed way off the rest of the week but had the wrath of several women on him anyway.
I'm not sure why the Eyes Wide Shut night has some many discrepancies between reports. I had read everything beforehand and had shared it with my wife. I know one lady that we had hung around with all week said she was not going because she was deathly afraid of masks. Others said they were not going because they felt it was satanic. Some of the costumes are a little creepy on the guys but it was still a great night.

Thank you especially for your impressions of the Eyes Wide Shut theme. We were there that night too and posted a review of the theme on our Desire Cancun Couples Yahoo group, but we didn't actually participate ourselves and we were a bit late arriving, unfortunately missing the first number, so your report redresses a couple of details we seemingly didn't get quite right in our review.

Because we missed the first number (like we said, we didn't participate in the theme, but Marci DID get dressed up in a sexy little outfit which took some time to put together, and which Howard had to photograph in our room before heading out, which in turn made us late , the next day we talked to a couple of the entertainment people to find out what happened.

They gave us the impression that a kind of musical-partners thing went on where the cloaked and masked men & women formed two concentric circles and moved in opposite directions during the music, stopping when indicated and touching each other as directed. The description was very vague, though, so we easily could have misunderstood what actually happened.

Before we update our review, can you confirm or correct the musical-partners concept? During the first number, besides the interaction of the women who were brought up on the stage, was there any expected or requested participation by the other costumed couples except as watchers?

Howard and Marci, The night we attended there was not any circle type dance with men on the outside, etc. One of the staff did a provacative strip type dance in full theme costume and then at one point pulled the women up onto the stage to dance with her. She then encouraged them to all start making out with each other, touching and so on. At no point were any men involved other than standing back in the crowd watching like everyone else. The clip from the movie was showing on the big screen next to the bar and included the chanting type music.
The whole thing didn't last probably 10 minutes but was very erotic. As I said in my earlier post, everyone soon peeled back to the play room where it was just about standing room only. We squeezed in next to another couple who was really going at it which made my wife even hornier than she was already.

Maybe Desire is just trying out differant things to see what works or not for Eyes Wide Shut.

Hey, guys, this is Chris and Cathy. We weren't there for the week in question, but the following week (as you know). On that occasion it was pretty much exactly as you described.

There were two concentric rings, women inside and men outside, all of these having been chosen by the entertainment guy. First the women were told to kiss the one next to them, as in the EWS video. Then they were told to stand up. They were told to stand up and kiss the man in front of them, and then the men were told to touch the women, and that touching anything was OK. The women then were told to move one partner to their right, and kiss and touch again. Following this, two women, apparently hired entertainment, did a strip tease on the stage, started making out with each other, and then pulled the ring women in to all make out together.

I can see that it might have been cool, but actually we were a bit put off. Not everyone at the resort is into swapping, and not every woman in the resort is bi. Guests should have been warned of what they were getting into should they be chosen. At least one women hightailed it out of there when she saw what was going on.

Both my wife and I are quite interested in participating in the theme when we are there in May. She likes pretty much everything about it except the part about being pulled to the stage by the dancers. Other reports have onlly a couple of women pulled up by the dancers. She, like me I guess, aren't really comfortable being the center of attention or on stage. Can the women opt out of that part without being party poopers. Also, was the touching liberal and generous or respectul and marginal. I expect a lot had to do with whether the two knew each other or not. Thanks for the feedback.

My wife is curious about the evening since, for her, it would allow some time for her to explore a differant sensual side of her while being incognito....somewhat...in a mask. The more information we have on the evening the better for us to make a decision to participate

Our friends were there the second or third week that this event took place, and the husband of the couple didn't like it and they left early.

We haven't been to the event yet, but we have been to Desire Cancun 11 times, and lots and lots of evenings at the disco. I can say, with experience, that any planned event, however it is set up to be staged, may vary 180 degrees in time, place and participants and content and any hour of the day or night. Some of our past memories are as bland as shopping in Walmart, and some others we have experienced are quite extraordinary.

Don't expect anything to happen as advertised - the best moments at Desire are totally on the spur of the moment and out of the blue. That's why we go there, to be free of the constraints of time and obligations in everyday life. It's just a time to live and enjoy, however you define it.

Even if you don't like being the center of attention, or if you don't like being picked out of the crowd, or "hit upon" - wouldn't it be sad if no one at all paid any attention to you? After all, it is a lifestyle resort. Enjoy the attention you get, it's just a compliment, not a mandate to react in a certain way.

Just go and enjoy.............

Great report. Carolyn and I (Duane) were there that week and had a ball. I gave up the sports thing after our first trip to Desire. Will occasionally play some water activities. Too much energy required for volleyball, best to reserve that energy for "other" activities! Hope to see friends there again next year...

My bust, we were NOT at Desire this particular week, we were there the week of Apr 3, 2009. Anyway, we had fun then too!!!!
