October 24-28 visit.

We had great vacation, lucky to arrive just after few rainy days. Booked USA Transfers trough this site for transportation airport-resort-airport.
Excellent service, on time, newer vans, friendly drivers, perfect communication via email with remainders about your transportation day pick up.
Highly recommended. If any suggestion we would have would be a glass of cold champagne on arrival :)

Pool:
Pool looks great, feels little smaller and is 4 feet deep.
Water temperature just right. Liked better old logo sign on the bottom. During our stay they installed second aluminum step ladder on the west side.
On the north side you will notice few walk in steps. In a current state it is a little safety issue. Steps have the same color tiles like the bottom of the pool so is hard to notice them, also there is no railing (will be installed soon).

Pool bar:
Fantastic job. Great spot for chatting with guests and escaping sun or rain. Dry side is a real bonus. They trying to be more environmental friendly and limits use of drinking straws but is hard to drink mojito without one...it simply doesn't taste the same.

New pool restaurant:
It is larger with new kitchen equipment.
Lunch menu has been improved a little.
No ice-cream but you can ask for it.
Excellent service as usually.

Pool bathrooms are now next to each other:

Somebody pointed that pool view from the restaurant is now obstructed by pool bar.
Few pictures from different angel illustrating the situation:

New beach beds in front of the pool:
They are spread on former volleyball court which has been moved to the south of the property). Nice beds with new mattresses
and roof cover but for some reason they are not used at all. During 5 days only saw one bed used one time !
It's strange because it is prime location - on the beach close to pool and restaurant.

We were surprised how close is the new next door resort being build.
It appears that guest from new resort would be able to see naked volleyball games from their beach launchers...

Foam party - sorry no pic :)
Tuesdays at 2 pm in the pool. Fun, fun, fun !
Not to be missed. We went to Pearl on Sat to experience their foam party and compare.
Both are very similar now and the difference is made by the crowd.

Hope you all will enjoy these few recent pictures.

tan44-

We were there the same time as you (we are Linda and Tom from Maryland- did we meet?).

Nice pics, you must have been up early! Maybe you were out on the day Mexico returned to Standard Time (that caught us by surprise!).

Agree with everything you've said. Our only quibble was that grill service at lunch was a little slow- but they were quite backed up.

Entertainment staff was very desperate for people to participate in a pool activity (water aerobics, I think) one day, and I thought they took their goading a little too far. They actually turned a little rude on the PA system, scolding the guests collectively for not participating and promising to play "shit music" for the rest of the day. People happened to want to just chill out in or around the pool, and were happy with that- no need to ruin their fun by rudely trying to shame them into an activity! That was one off-note in an otherwise great experience.

tan44, I hope you had as much fun as we did!

tan44 - thanks for the fantastic pics and updates We can't wait to get there and experience all the new renos for ourselves - won't be long now! I think what they've done with the pool - leveling the bottom and the walk-in steps and additional ladder are tremendous additions! The bar looks amazing from all sides and we're looking forward to our leisurely lunches in the pool restaurant, gazing out over the beach and ocean. :D

They were still building the new beds on Thursday, Friday and Saturday and place many of them around the pool. We liked how the backs raised like a chaise lounge. Some people were placing towels on the top slats to keep out the direct sun.

With the new construction, we were told that the area closest to Desire was going to be mostly their Admin offices. The manager said that there shouldn't be any guests rooms looking over Desire.

Is the beach at Desire considered public? If so, will the guests from the new resort be able to hang out on the "Desire" beach and likewise for Desire guests and the beach at the new resort?

In a word no, the area that is public is the high tide mark and anyone has the right to walk along the beach within that public area beyond that public area each resorts security personnel make sure that only their guests have use of the beach area in front of each resort.

Bottom line is that nothing really changes from the way that it has operated up until now, probably just a higher percentage of beach traffic.

We were wondering about the new resort being built next door also. One of the buildings will have a very clear view into the nude pool area. If that building happens to house guest rooms those guests will never leave their room. If that building is for administration as someone posted here it will still be unfortunate to be looking up from your chair at the pool to see that building right there.

Thank you for the great pictures and your post. The building next door is of some concern to me, since people love to freak out when nudity is with in a mile of them. I hope this does not have a negative affect Desire P.'s business. I guess I will find out during our visit in March.
