Halloween! 2014

Postby CLG » Tue Nov 04, 2014 3:30 pm

This is our second year in a row going to Desire RM for Halloween and the previous 2 years we visited the old Desire Los Cabos for Halloween. We enjoy the extra fun and energy Halloween seems to bring out of people….and now the employees of Desire RM.

A little history of Desire and Halloween as we have experienced it over the last 4 years. In Los Cabos, Halloween was probably the biggest event of the year. From the enthusiasm of the guests, to the resort decorations, to the employees involvement that went all the way to the G.M, it was fantastic.

To last year, to be honest, we were disappointed with Halloween at Desire RM. Halloween last year was like visiting any other time of the year, there were no resort decorations, no employee participation; it just didn’t feel like Halloween. We still had fun, but not the Halloween fun we wanted to experience.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the G.M. from the old Desire Los Cabos was going to return to the Desire concept and begin working at RM. We once again had very high hopes for our annual Halloween trip, and it was Awesome!

The Halloween fun and energy that we, and many others from Los Cabos, had experienced was now at Desire RM. The changes that were made to the Halloween event this year may seem simple but go a long way to adding to the fun. There were decorations all over the resort, the employees were offered the chance to dress up during their shifts, the resort had an employee costume contest during the day and afterwards, all the participants walked around the pool. We spoke to several employees that really enjoyed the chance to get involved with Halloween. On the Desire FB page, there are a few pictures from the Halloween event. Since this is the first year of this much employee involvement, we could only imagine that it will only get better.

The fact that we talked to about 5 couples that already booked for Halloween next year before leaving for home because they didn’t want to take any chances with a reservation, to us, says it all. We booked the day after getting home!

Other than Halloween, these are our observations:

We thought the food was the best we have ever had. There were so many more healthier choices than before. From the fresh salads and vegetables during lunch, the different juice styles for breakfast, etc. There was a new menu at Sahlo that was only a few days old and not only was the food outstanding, the presentation of some of the menu items was very unique.

The pool bar and restaurant look great. There are still working on a few things, adding a few more palm trees, adding a retractable awning around the beach side of the restaurant, some additional work on the grounds around the pool area.

There are around 14 new pool beds being added around the perimeter of the pool deck, we posted some pictures here (Page 4):

As always, all the staff are fantastic.

We loved…loved…loved the night time. Nothing like having a great dinner, chatting with people at the Melange Bar, and then partying at the Disco until the early morning hours.

Bugs were not a big deal, the resort used the fogger, and we only had a few bites.

It was a great trip and if you enjoy Halloween, this is a great event to attend. See you next Halloween!

Fabulous news all round. We spoke to the new chef (Luis?) in September, and he was very enthusiastic about his new menu, the healthier options , salads and vegetables, which have been lacking before. After all, most of us guests at Desire like to keep ourselves looking and feeling good! I had the chance to test one of his dishes, a salad made from a hollowed out apple filled with blue cheese, yum, and looked beautiful too. Glad the promises are being kept!
