April 23-30 Trip Report

Postby njdesirecpl » Tue May 05, 2009 3:42 pm

Wow! Where to begin?

We flew out of Newark on Continental and were delayed 45 minutes taking off. Typical Newark delays. The remainder of the flight was uneventful.

Upon arrival we cleared immigration quickly and finally got the damn green light. First F#$%ing time in 6 trips! Sailed through customs and went right to the grey line desk for a shuttle to Temptations in Cancun where we spent and uneventful night.

Next day we took a $40.00 taxi to Desire with a side trip to Walmart for several bottles of 43 which came in very handy at the hot tub :D

The hot tub was very active with body shots thanks to our good friends Buck and Debbie. He actually carries little plastic shot cups on a batman type utility belt strapped around his waist. After several rounds of honey wild turkey, 43, tequlla and other assorted alcohols the crowd was up for a show.

As previously stated at one point we had all 15-20 couples that were in the hot tub and on the voyeur side of the bar doing licking and sucking whipped cream and jello off of various body parts. You had to see it to believe it. Poor Debbie got a little drunk and her "aim" was off on the whipped cream sucking. She got it right on the second try. Good Job Debbie!

The missus and I finally got to realize a dream and made use of one of the rooftop beds with some new friends. We never knew that the jacuzzi cloesd at 3:00 am and had to crawl under the chain when we were done at 4:15. I think we still have smiles on our faces.

The weather was perfect save for a couple of windy days that chased us to the pool loungers. Never had trouble getting a palapa at the beach or a lounger at the pool. It actually seemed like the new system in place actually works.

We had an oceanview jacuzzi suite. The room was very nice but not worth the extra cost. We will stick with a garden view room as in the past.
The room was very clean and we had no complaints

The food did't seem as if it was as good as in years past. The Italian restaurant never opened on the 3 sheduled nights as they said it was too windy. We ate one night at Il Piacere and the food was okay and not worth the 1 hour wait.

We also at at the Il Piacere restaurant at Temptations in Cancun and it was 10 times better with more variety on the menu.

We ate twice at the japanese restaurant. The food was good but again the menu is very limited if you want to eat there more than twice.

It seemed that they had less prepared to order food than in years past and I did not see a lobster the whole time we were there.

The disco music was definitely much improved over years past. The moldy smell is gone but it still does get hot when it is crowded. We went into the playroom twice. Once it was too crowded and we left and the other time there was no one else there.

We were a little intrigued about what the eyes wide shut show would be. We chose not to particpate as we did not want to wear a mask that someoen else had recently worn due to the swine flu (more on that later).

Two female dancers come out and begin an erotic show with a lot of touching and feeling. They then went out into the audience and picked out 3 women in costume to come up on stage and basically it turned into an all female orgy for the next few minutes. Very nice to watch! If any of you ladies who participated are reading this, thanks for a great show!

We did not hear of the swine flu for the first couple of days at the resort until we started receiving cell phone calls from home asking if we were okay. We never saw anyone who was sick. It seemed every day from that point forward the USA Today was making the "new" flu as some were calling it an epidemic.

It seems to us that the whole thing was blown out of proportion and people cause much panic for no reason.

The only outward sign we saw of the flu was about 50 people wearing masks at the airport when we were flying out on the 30th.

Overall this was our best trip out of 6 so far. We definitely expanded our horizons and grew more secure in our relationship. Thanks to all our Desire friends old and new from New Hampshire, Texas, North Carolina , Kansas, Michigan and all the others

April 2010 can't get here fast enough!

Awsome review NJ ! Sounds like you had a great time. Thanks for taking the time to update us on whats going on. As we expected, doesnt sound like the "new" flu is affecting the resort too much. Damn media !! :x

So the rooftop closes @ 3 ?? Who knew....... LOL ?? At least they left you all alone to "lock up" on your way out !

Steve - Just a FYI - they shut off the Jacuzzi pumps at 3am and the bar upstairs is closed - but many have used and slept in the upstairs beds until dawn

Mark,

We got the red light last May, and all that happened was our bags were taken to an adjacent table area and were opened and inspected. My wife was worried that some of the "Desire type" items  may get flashed around and questioned  , but to her relief, the inspection was very cursory and quick. Less than 2 minutes total.

Just remember to REMOVE any batteries from any items that might make noise or move. Otherwise that could cause issues if they were accidentally turned on during an inspection.

All in all, a VERY minor inconvenience considering you will be at the resort about 30 minutes after this point !

I am sure that there are dogs and physical inspections behind closed doors, (As at every customs facility, in ANY country) but if you aren't doing anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about.

We will be there in June as well(13th-22nd)

Steve,

BTW - Thanks Wayne for the info on the "Hours of operation" at the jacuzzi. :)
