This was our 7th visit to RM over 5 years. Last year we went to Pearl, this gave us a good chance to see what had changed in two years:
CONS
- Check in - seemed very disorganized. Ended up in a room beneath the hot tub - convenient but noisy most of the night from the hot tub pumps
- Membership sales pitch - we've never seen such a high pressure pitch at RM. Every time we went to the lobby (initially to switch rooms) we felt like we were walking the gauntlet out of the CUN airport.
- Entertainment staff - complete turnover since last visit. They really didn't connect with the guests or even try to learn our names like Vanessa, Diana or Laz. The games and contests used to be a way to meet guests; this trip they felt more like announcements.
- Pool music - a little too night clubby in the morning
- Disco music - always too loud and the strobe lights were annoying
- Games and contests - if you're going to have a game, have a prize
- Theme nights - not as much participation
- Water sports - the big Hobie was down for repair
- Playroom - had an bad odor the one night that we tried it
PROS
- Pool/bar renovations are nice
- Food - very good as usual
- Room (second room) was nice
- Couples massage class with Liz
- Evening entertainment - several good bands, although no one seemed to enjoy the flutist
Of course we had a great time with great friends and we plan to return, but we hope that the management will address these issues.
