Better late than never....(May 9-15, 2009)

We are in our early 40's and it was our first trip to Desire. We went during the height of the swine flu. Airlines canceled our flights twice. We went down with the Hot Tamales, YNOTS, and Denny’s WWW group. Couldn’t be a better combination of groups. Some were wild and some not so wild.

We arrived in Cancun and took the transfer to the hotel. We were greeted with a glass of champagne. Since the resort wasn’t full, they upgraded us to an oceanfront room. Building 25, on the North side of the resort.

Room was fine, one small set of drawers but then again, we didn’t bring much. One pair of dress pants for dinner, a couple pairs of shorts, a few shirts and that’s about it. My wife brought more outfits for the theme nights than anything else. We brought outfits for all of the themes but only wore 3-4 of them.

The groups got together and did an erotic gift exchange which was great fun. We were late to the gift exchange because we had an appointment with Claudia, I would definitely recommend visiting her if you haven’t already.

We didn’t spend any time at the pool for our visit, we spent every day on the beach beds. Since occupancy was low, we didn’t have any trouble getting the same one every day.

The staff was wonderful, no complaints there. The alcohol selection was good. Actually, better than I expected. The food was good, I would say better than average for an AI. Late night pizza was a big hit. The evening entertainment was good and afterwards, most people headed to the disco. We only spent a couple hours in the disco each night. By midnight, it was pretty much empty because most people headed to the hot tub.

There were all types of people there for our visit and everyone was friendly and non-judgmental. My wife and I agreed that the people definitely made the trip. We spent most of our time with each other, reconnecting and relaxing. All in all, it was a great trip and can’t wait to get back with the same group in May.

Absolutely.

Thanks for taking the time to put it down on paper.

This newbie for one, is most appreciative . . . and very much looking forward to our first trip in October.

Hope our visit goes as well as yours did.

All the best

Just a couple more things I meant to add just in case anyone was interested.

Alcohol selection included Jack Daniels, Johnnie Walker Black, Milagro Silver/Resposado. We didn’t drink much else so not sure about the rest.

We ended up taking a cab to the airport instead of the transfer we paid for because of the timing. Our flight was later in the afternoon and management had no problem with us “hanging aroundâ€

Airport Tip

Just thought I would add one tip about purchasing pharmacy items at the Cancun airport. I bought some Viagra and put it in my carryon bag. Everything was fine until I had to go through customs in the U.S. They pulled it out and wanted to know if I had a prescription for it which I didn't. They let me slide after about 10 minutes of questioning much to my wife and I's embarrassment. You would have thought I was smuggling heroin or something they way there were acting. If you buy anything like that I recommend purchasing before you get to the airport and throwing it in your bags that get checked in.
