I'll spare the day-by-day (aka blow-by-blow) details and point out some of the details that a newbie or repeater might find helpful. And don't hesitate to forward specific questions either by reply or PM.
- The staff is as incredible as ever, front desk, bar tenders, restaurant workers, pool staff, and on and on. We never saw a frowning face or anybody who did not radiate a genuine smile and say good morning or how can I help you? We've gotten to know several of the folks there by name, and without a doubt spending time with them is one of the highlights of our trips there. Although tipping is officially not part of the the Desire policy, we ALWAYS give a little extra for their unbelievable service and I encourage you to do the same. Quite honestly, it never feels that we do enough of that.
- Clothing/dress up/dress down/costumes. If you're worried about it, don't be. The restaurants do have a dress code, and I for one hope that everyone will follow them. It does help maintain the classy feeling that Desire has. But don't be overly worried. You will find that most people are clothing free during the day, but If you aren't ready or comfortable with that, wear what you want. The costume/theme nights are fun, but if you don't want to pack 49.9 pounds of CFM's and prefer strictly casual cloths, you will have just as much fun.
- The "sex fest' worry. In a word, don't. We've been more adventurous personally and seen plenty of action on the jacuzzi beds both up close and from afar, but we've also spent quiet nights to ourselves, some of them romantic but chaste. If you would be offended hearing off color comments, suggestive conversation or bare buns humping up and down on top of a bed, well then, book a Disney vacation. But if the idea of seeing tons of naked people laughing and having a good time, a blow job to your left and a spread pair of legs to your right while you enjoy a cool drink sounds like fun, well then you've found heaven on earth. And "no" always means "no". The approaches tend to be gentle and I've never had a back turned to me or a conversation prematurely ended when I've said a polite "no thank you." Then again, some of the offers have been enthusiastically accepted with the better half's approval.
- The food. There are only two full service restaurants on site. So while the food there is very good, if you will be there for an extended period of time, it will become somewhat same-ish. The buffet has become increasingly good over the time we've been there. So if you didn't like it in the past, give it another try. The upside to the buffet is that it changes every night, you can wear comfortable shorts and t-shirts, and it's as quick a meal as you'd like. Dinner at the restaurants tends to be a much longer affair.
- The bars. Awesome. Never seen bar staff work so hard to please. Each one has its crew of staff, so drinks can vary from one site to another. Sometimes it can get quite busy, so be patient, but you will get served. And in the meantime, strike up a conversation with the person next to you. You never know where that might lead. The alcohol tends to be middle shelf. If there is a particular type/brand that you absolutely must have on your dream vacation, bring a bottle or two with you and the staff will hold it behind the bar for you
- Sex Everywhere. (So glad to be back to this topic) Yeah ..... well..... not quite. There's plenty of it at the hot tub, in the sin room and some at the disco. But the beaches in Mexico are public. So sex on the beach is officially NOT allowed. Sure you can probably get away with it, but if the staff sees you in full, legs spread, butt up action, you will likely get stopped. It's to protect you and everyone else who loves Desire. Because if there are complaints from non-Desire folks walking on the beach, it puts the resort at risk. Have a great time and show off all your amazing skills, but please not on the beach. I for one want to keep coming back at (oops I meant to) Desire and don't want anything to risk all of the erotic potential of the resort.
- Should I go/Are we pretty enough/etc/etc. I can sing like Sinatra and dance like Christopher Walken (Yes he can dance!) and look almost exactly like Brad Pitt six-packs abs and all, I can also screw like aporn star at least six times per day, but only in my head. I can also screw like aporn star at least six times per day. Ask anyone who's been to Desire with the YNots (awesome group) and they will tell you that I have all the dance moves of a three legged cow and my similarity to Brad Pitt is slightly out of line, but there's no question that I fit right in; and most importantly I feel like I fit in. And I know without a doubt that my better half feels exactly the same way.
- Tips. Bring plenty of sunscreen. If having ice cold drinks is really important, a good insulated cup will help. I hate trying to keep up with stuff, so we don't bother with those. No need to bring towels, there are heaps of them lying around. I believe in nutritional supplements to keep healthy. The food is rich and the alcohol plentiful, so do whatever it takes to keep your motor running. If you enjoy or use the little blue pills bring them with you. You can get them in Mx but it will cost you. Just as your doctor for them. And don't be embarassed to ask. Trust me, s/he has heard it all before. Keep hydrated and drink plenty of water too. You will lose tons of fluids between the sun, the exercise and the sex. The water and ice at the resort are filtered and I've never had a problem drinking it. Water bottles are only the the mini fridge. Bring an empty water bottle or just drink lots of cups that Africa will bring to you on the beach.
I'm sure there's lots of other stuff to share and talk about. As I said, feel free to post and/or ask questions. Our Spring 2017 trip is already booked. Only 362 days to go!
