Desire(Sept 4- 12, 2009) -was a real time Trip Report

Yes- we are pool people. The new system seems to work ok. You still have to get up early to get the best seats.
Even with the resort around 50% full- it has been unusually hot even for September so the seats with shade or umbrella's are a hot commodity. Really the only difference now from the old system is that when you go to pickup towels they take you to your seats- you can pick whatever is open- and write the chair numbers down on their chart with your name. If they see them empty for a couple hours they are supposed to give them away to someone else who may ask.
The white/and or denim theme was last night. There
was almost no denim- only one lady with a denim skirt that I recall. But there was a lot of white as usual. The sex scene contest last night in the disco was great ! And so were the sexual positions and male stripper contests earlier in the week. The new EC crew do a good job of stirring things up and getting people involved.
Anyone looking at weather forecasts may have thought it had been raining here all week. But actually last night's 10 minutes of sprinkles was the only bit of rain since we arrived. The weather has been sunny and hot - just like the action !
Well we are off to enjoy another big day here at Desire. We have no idea what we'll end up doing- but you can be sure we are going to enjoy it !

The pool chair situation sounds interesting, may make late nights more painful to endure having to get up early for the best spot!

And - has the air conditioner problem been fixed in the restaurant?

Let us know about the eyes wide shut theme. We hope it's been refined to make it as enjoyable as possible for everyone.

As newbies going next week, we are wondering if we are supposed to bring our own beach towels, and towels for hot tub activities,etc?? Are there towels available all around the resort, or just from the room, or __?

Also, for eyes wide shut . . . are there cloaks available to rent or borrow??

D & A - No need to bring towels (unless you really want to) fresh towels are always available at the beach, pool and hot tub

For the eyes wide shut theme night, Desire provides cloaks and masks - but in order to get any of the limited number available you have to be early in the line up in the lobby area

Mike - excellent job keeping everyone posted as to the daily activities! You're right, the weather and the action was HOT over the weekend. We were sad to leave paradise behind but at least we didn't deal with the highjacking the day after we left.....close one!

Yes, Mike was a popular man on his birthday!!! He was quite busy in the hot tub.....that's all I'll say! LUCKY MAN.

Anyway, thanks again for the postings and coordinating such a great week for the Labor day and WWW group!

Eddie & Jojo- we were sad to see you go but we’re glad you got out before the hijacking. I’m sure security at the airport is going to be a nightmare when we leave. The resort is much emptier now
than when you guys left but we are managing to find enough to do to keep us busy- Lol.

Thanks for these up-to-the-minute reports, Mike....everything sound pretty damn good other than the AC issue. Has to be nearly unbearable in there at this time of the year, hope they get it taken care of sometime in the next two weeks......

Powder - it was really, really hot in the buffet area for breakfast each morning. We ended up sitting right in front of the fan the last couple morning and it helped....a little!

But, a small price to pay when one is in paradise..LOL!

Can't wait until our next trip...looks like we'll try to hit it in May this year, change things up a bit! Only problem is that it's 8 frickin' months away!

anyone remember the first few years there with no AC? i do, and trust me, you do NOT want to be in that buffet area for bfast and dinner without it.

Absolutely unbearable. Hope its fixed in a few short weeks!

We ended up going to dinner in Cancun last night with good friends and we missed the theme night activities. So we are sorry to say we can't report on what it was all about.
We are off to enjoy our last night in paradise- until we return in May- and we plan to make it one to remember !

One more time Mike and Barbara thank you for making the wonderful place called Desire seem real again, it always has a feeling of unreality when we get home. But can't wait to get back to the dream in November.

These are real fun to read since we will be down there again next week. I was wondering what the Tantra week was like. Did they do anything special for this? We were thinking that it would be fun to be down there for this event, but weren't able to make it down until next week.

BTW- After the Labor Day crowd left what did it look like the occupancy level was? Just wondering what we might expect next week when we are down.

Oh, another quick question....was the weather nice? Weather.com is showing daily T storms and showers next week, but I assume this is just the usual stuff that you see off shore in the evenings. We are from the NW and have had enough rain lately...
