Since we gained such a wealth of information from this site, the least we could do was to contribute a trip report. Overall, we would concur with the majority of the information provided by this site. It really helped us to make our decision to go to Desire. It can be a little intimidating for a first timer.
Weather:
Although thunderstorms were predicted on the weather websites, we only saw rain for 10 minutes the entire time we were there. It was clear skies in the morning, and then partly cloudy or overcast in the afternoons. We found that perfect. It was enough to get plenty of sun, but not enough to fry us in the heat of the day. We generally had a nice breeze which not only cooled us off, but kept away bugs.
Grounds/Overall Ambiance:
The grounds are very lush and tastefully designed. It’s clear that the designers wanted to appeal and be welcoming to women. After all, with naked women running around, what man notices the buildings or room decor?
Rooms:
We were pleasantly surprised. Our garden room had a nice ocean view. It was sufficiently large and very sensually, yet tastefully, decorated. The resort is not that large, so I don’t think you would be far from anything regardless of the room you are assigned.
Pool:
The pool had been resurfaced the day before we arrived, and the water was already warm. We spent a few hours a day at the pool, and thought they struck a nice balance between relaxing, activities and partying. The music was usually good; it was never annoying or too loud. Many activities were fun, and there was no pressure to participate. The entertainment staff was better than those at most resorts where we have stayed. Of course there was plenty of eye candy for everyone. Although I think the resort was nearly full due to a Kasidie takeover group that was there, I did not see anyone have issues getting chairs.
Beach:
The comments about the water encroaching on the beach beds are valid. However, we didn’t really see it as an issue. (We weren’t playing in the sand with my kids.) There is a reef that breaks the waves, so unless there is a storm, the waves are very gentle. The water was warm, and a number of people just hung out in the water socializing. The beach beds are very relaxing, and are a great way to get out of the sun and nap/chill in the afternoon. If you are willing to put clothes on, you can go for a long walk or run past other resorts. There were clothed ‘civiliansâ€
