If you email the resort two weeks or less before your scheduled arrival date with a request for a family safe(vanilla) phone number they will email you back with a family safe(vanilla) phone number to give to the family
( Note: on your email request be sure to include your first and last names, confirmation # and arrival date)They used to answer it as Blue Bay Resorts, but they changed the name of the overall ownership group to Original Resorts a couple of years ago
http://www.originalresorts.com/They now just answer this line as "Original Resorts"

does this info still apply? I need a family safe phone number or contact info to give our parents while they babysit our kids
don't want to tell them where we are going, but they will want an emergency contact number

Same question again: is this vanilla phone still working the same way?

Emailed DRM 5 days ago and nothing back yet. How long does a response usually take?

FYI-
Out of curiosity I called the given number before our last trip and it was answered as Desire. I now just tell everyone that I'll do a quick e-mail check every morning. I also have free wi-fi calling on my phone.

we left the safe phone number...and got busted.
the story our family told us is desire answered in spanish and haltingly said no one with our name was staying there.
now we just leave our cell phone number.

Rather than use the resort number, we downloaded Viber to our smartphones so that our kids could call us directly, if they needed us. It works off of the resort WiFi so there's no cost to use. You can also use Whats App.

Also you can call thru Facebook now too. we used it in St Maarten from a tablet and it worked great. As long as you are calling someone on your friends list. I do not use Facebook at all , my wife does so I don't know to much about it but here is a link to an explanation of how to use it. we didn't use the video chat just the calling feature, it worked just like a phone.

Good to know. We always try calling our kids once during our trip.

Just remember if you have nosy family members that google "original resorts" both Desires and Temptations will come up. We also just use our cell phones, feels less risky!
