Are upgraded rooms offered if available upon arrival at Desire RM?

We have visited the Pearl on anniversaries And birthdays and always ask for an upgrade when we arrive. If one is available, they are happy to accommodate.

I assume that the upgrade comes at the cost delta between the original room and the upgraded room. Is that correct? My wife and I have never been here before, but we are planning to come in May of 2017.

Thanks,

Correct, just bear in mind that all of the month of May, at both Desire properties, has been consistently one of the highest booked months of the year, so upgrade pickings may be slim to just non existent ;)

Actually, the two times that we requested an upgrade, we were not charged. That said we did not request anything unreasonable. We wouldn't pay for an ocean view and request an upgrade to penthouse.

We were offered an upgrade at check in at Pearl on Dec 14. I believe it was well below the full rack rate difference. We didn't take it, so I'm not sure. We also had new friends who are members offered an upgrade at below standard cost difference.
