Transfer or Cab it?

Pearl is so close, and we cabbed it back to airport last time. Why would you do the transfer vs just get a cab?

For us, it was the uncertainty of getting some random cab vs. a vetted and highly reviewed transfer company. If I were going by myself (figuratively) I might be fine with a cab but I want my wife to feel as safe and as comfortable for these trips as possible. Keeping her relaxed and stress-free, works out really well for me (wink).

If you ask me, any cab that the resort calls for you is going to be perfectly safe. Quintana Roo in general is very safe; crimes against a tourists are not acceptable.

We often do just a one way(airport to Desire) transfer with USA Transfers and get the Desire concierge to get us a taxi back to the airport - perfectly safe always.

The only thing you might want to think about is if you have a lot of luggage or it's oversized, the average Mexican taxis tend to be sub compact sized vehicles
ie: very little room in the trunk so some of your luggage may end up sharing space with you inside the taxi - lol

Read this today; here you go! (emphasis mine):
U.S. officials say a total of 25.4 million Americans visited Mexico in 2014, while 100 Americans were reported murdered in that country that same year. That would be a murder rate of .39 per 100,000 Americans, less than half the murder rate of New Hampshire.

And some of Mexico’s most popular tourist destinations — including Quintana Roo, where Cancun, Cozumel, and Playa del Carmen are located — has been given the all clear by the State Department.

Americans in Mexico are murdered at a rate of roughly .4 per 100k. Only 6 countries in the world are that safe overall, and the US is nowhere them. Given that you're an American tourist, a Mexican tourist area like Quintana Roo is likely safer than you own hometown. Of course, if you feel better taking USA Transfers, then by all means support the forums :D

Thanks, yeah, it's all about perception. I'm with you on the actual statistics and I didn't mean to impinge Mexico in general nor Quintana Roo specifically. I also don't want to give the impression that my wife is snobbish or some kind of nervous Nellie. We have had crazy adventures in lots of foreign lands. I just wanted to make our first trip as easy and low stress as possible and I liked having everything lined up before we got there. That's where I was coming from.
