Walking from RM to Pearl

What do you mean "congested with seaweed and difficult walking" do you mean "growing" or just washed ashore. We are "hikers" and a one hour walk is no problem, but do not like wading through a swampy area or swimming though seaweed, or being chased as tresspassers.

The beach in Mexico is Public - the beach from Pearl to RM is Public. Period. Yes there are a couple of concrete walkways that you have to cross that lead out to piers, but there is no one or nothing to stop you from doing so - the Beach is Public. As for 'Congested with seaweed' I think they can only mean the stuff that washes up on shore - really not a problem since 99% of the beach is cleared by the resorts along the way. The other 1% is in front of property that's vacant, and if a little seaweed washed up on the beach is a problem… walk closer to the water where there is no seaweed -or- higher than the high tide water mark where the seaweed doesn't wash up.

There are no 'swampy' bits, it's a sandy beach walk the whole way; unless they walked inland and through the mangrove.

My wife and I walk between resorts on every visit, some may find it tough going because they don't walk much at home, or they find walking on loose sand difficult (just walk closer to the water where the sand is compacted)>

Yes, it's an hour roughly and best to wear some water shoes or runners. Flip flops (thongs) or bare feet won't cut it.

Just as a FYI - the actual walking distance (via the beach) from the Pearl dock(at the north end of the Pearl property) to the south end of the edge of the Desire RM property is 3.1 miles (16574 ft) or in metric 5.05km (5051m).

We were at pearl in June and walked to rm. Easy way to put it is DON'T WALK, we were do tired and crabby from the walk just wanted to go back to our room and lay down by the time we got there. Also it really is not a very scenic walk. A lot of the beach you travel isnt maintained full of seaweed and garbage and very narrow to the point that you have to walk through it. It takes every bit of an hr and is tiring ..... This is comming from in shape 28year olds! You will enjoy your time at pearl much more of you just take the ten min air conditioned cab ride trusttttt meee

Was just looking around and found this old post. We enjoyed the walk but it was hot that day so we were glad we brought water (We had fun however). We also had to walk along a sea wall for about 50 yards at one point as there was no beach and the water was too deep that year. We did take a taxi back (as CokeMann guessed) with some folks we meet at Pearl that were also just visiting for the day.

Do you know the cost of the Taxi ride between resorts? I recall there was a sign up showing the prices you can expect to pay.

The posted rate is 250 MXP each way. Normally taxi drivers only give you a 10:1 rate if you want to pay in USD, so $25 USD

I believe that Desire has arranged a "special" rate with the taxi union of only $20 USD.

I can understand the sentiment of Jandk. We walked it a few years back and after it was said and done, there was no way we were walking back to Pearl and took a taxi. If you want to walk, I think heading south is more interesting.
