Early arrival?

Do you give Marriott your flight info for pick up or do you have to call them when ready ??

You call them when ready. We have only done this once and the shuttle happened to be there when we arrived, but I had the phone number in hand ready to call when we walked out of the terminal.

Can anyone recommend a hotel to stay at the night before going to Pearl,near the airport ? Thanks

I'm not sure I understand this. Are you getting in super late? I'm not sure why I'd ever want to stay at a place that wasn't Desire after landing in Cancun.

It's nice to get in a day early and relax. Get up in the AM, take an early cab, and have a full day Pearl, all rested. Pretty simple

After flying all night we arrive in Cancun just before noon so by the time we clear customs and find the shuttle we arrive at Desire about 1:30. We check in have them hold our bags and go get lunch then look for a pool bed to rest up until they come and tell us that our room is ready. Most of the we are still eating lunch when they tell us that our room is ready. By that time we have had a couple of drinks, our bellies are full and we are to start another fantastic Desire trip.

One thing is that it can give you a buffer in case something goes wrong with travel. Delayed flight, flat tire on the way to the airport, etc... Probably more important for people with longer travel, especially with multiple stops. For us that's not really an issue, roughly a 2 hour direct flight, but as long as the extra day doesn't cost us a Desire day it's all good. If our schedule was tight then I'd roll the dice rather than cut a day off the Desire trip though.

Our last trip was decided for us as Desire was booked on either end of our stay so we spent a day/night at Breathless.

Agreed, Bob & Sharon! When we have flights from L.A. that get in at night, we hate to pay for a full day at Pearl just to be there for a few hours at night and then go to sleep. Instead, we save hundreds of dollars, get to Pearl by 10:00am or 10:30am and have a very full day there for our first day.
BTW - Depending upon when your flight arrives, one approach is to stay in Puerto Morelos, have a nice evening there, and then be only 10 minutes from Pearl in the morning.
