Leaving Late After Checkout

My wife and I will be taking our second trip to Desire Pearl next spring and had a question regarding late departure. On our last trip on the day of checkout they offered to give us a pass to remain on the grounds for the afternoon, but never told us how late we could stay. Do anyone know how late you can stay on the day of checkout? Thanks!

You can literally check out, leave your luggage with the bellman and use a spa locker for your change of clothes for the airport. We have stayed as late as 9 pm.....

Always best to check with the front desk or butler (if you have one).

Great to know. We’re not planning on staying past 5:30pm due to travel. Thanks for the reply.

Also good to know if we should be delayed. Thanks.

Works for arriving early too.

We’ve done the red eye flight in and arrived long before noon and just hit into the spa to get pool ready and hey held our bags until the room was ready. They are very accommodating and pleasant persistence pays off if you experience any initial resistance.

After our very early check-in they literally came over to us at the poolside at Pearl and advised us our room was now ready (at 3:30) and we’d been there enjoying ourselves since just before 10. We went to the room with the butler and found all our bags in the room so we simply did the 3-5 minute room orientation speech, grabbed our room cards and headed back to the pool.

Be sure to pack your carryon accordingly for either arriving early or staying late.

We arrive at about 8:30 am after a stop at Evropa (great liquor store in Puerto Morales for a bottle for the room). They keep your luggage in storage. We had a few things in our carry on but what do you need at a naked resort? Bring your swim suits so you have something to take off after you get through the lobby. They came and got us when the room was ready. We had a 6:30 pm flight out and they don't take your bracelet until you leave. This was my experience at DRM but it should be the same at Pearl. Have fun!

We just returned on Jul 16. Pick up wasn't until 1 pm. We had bags packed in the room, and basically checked out standing in the pool. No need to have wet bathing suits in the luggage. Stay as long as you want as long as they can prepare the room for the next guest.

I was wondering if people had any recent experience with Pearl allowing access to everything and meals when doing a very late departure after checkout on their last day - specifically after dinner? (i.e. leaving Pearl around 8 or 9pm)

This was the most recent thread I found on this, but it's a few years old and we were curious if the policies had changed or if we'd need to arrange this with Pearl beforehand.

For context, with all the traffic issues heading to the airport adding hours of buffer time to be safe, we're considering pushing our departure date back one day and adding a night in the hotel inside the airport. Basically, letting us leave Pearl at 9pm instead of 9am and just strolling to our gate the next morning from inside the airport instead of dealing with traffic on the way to our flight.

Thanks!

Last two times we stayed at DRM, they allowed stay until 6PM (our request). I don't know if its possible stay until 9.
I suggest you send them an email.

We had friends throw stuff in our room on their departure day, and they stayed all day, leaving around 10:30pm. Their luggage was eventually picked up in our room after we ate dinner with them and even danced a bit in the lobby (Pearl) before their ride arrived. I don't know what or how this was arranged, but no issues for them staying late into the evening.

Thanks all - very helpful and good to know what has happened in the past.

For others who may find this thread with similar questions, after reading the above I called them and the stock answer is that they allow people to stay until late afternoon without any other checking or approval. Staying later into the evening (implying dinner was the cutoff) needs to get approved at the time of check-in with the reason given is that it's a matter of capacities - they don't want to approve too many stragglers on days when the resort is full. No idea if that approval is rare or almost always given, though.

We just provide the travel arrangements and they do the rest.
