Word is (from management on Trip Advisor) the the barrier is going up at Pearl. Can anyone confirm this? If so, any estimate for it's completion? Thank you so much!

Interested in this, as well. We arrive mid-August.

We just got back from Pearl Monday. They said the barrier is going up the end of this month.

Thank you for the update! Hopefully 'end of the month' means by July 24th since we arrive July 25th

They better get it in, because they're about to get swamped in sargassum.

We just returned yesterday. The barrier at pearl was going in on Saturday while we were playing volleyball. Wasn't completed as of yet but looked to be making quick progress

Does anyone have an update on the seaweed barrier? Has it been completed yet? If so does it seem to be working?

Just left Pearl last Saturday, July 27, after a seven night stay. The barrier is in place but the resort seems to be having problems getting to work properly. Think it was Wednesday when it appeared to have rid the shore of any seaweed but it was back by Thursday morning. Hopefully they will get the barrier fully figured out.

From this story it appears that the sargassum island is not longer threatening the island and that Puerto Morelos is clear.

Thanks for the government map link. It was reassuring, but has anyone seen the beach conditions at the resort in the last week?
