Hey yall,
We are at Desire Pearl right now and have just booked a return trip for Halloween 2020! First time we went directly through Desire's website For airfare we always book separate. We use a website called Scott's Cheap Flights for alerts to inexpensive flights. Lastly, like most others on here, we use USA Transfers.

Hopefully some of this was helpful!
Regards,
B&A

For Canadians if you want a package (room + air) probably Expedia offers the best overall prices.
But avoid any flights that have USA based connection cities !!!! The last thing you want to do is having to clear USA TSA, customs and immigration in the USA twice and the delays associated with it.

If you want to do it separately then from an air perspective best prices can be usually found on Westjet when they have a sale on(usually frequently) or Interjet if you are close to one of their hub cities - Montreal (YUL), Toronto (YYZ), Vancouver (YVR)

If you wish to help support these forums and keep them on line
You can book directly with Desire Pearl through the forums affiliate link

We’ve flown with Interjet twice out of Vancouver for less than $800 CAD return for 2 direct over the last 2 years.

Great deal when you can take advantage. Food and liquor is free and seats and leg room are oversized so very comfortable.

Sounds unbelievable but it’s true.

Happy trip planning.

I would take a look at package deals by Air Canada Vacations and Sunwing. We have made many trips via package deals with Air Transat, but unfortunately last I checked they did not have a renewed contract with Desire for 2020.

Sadly the interjet flight from Vancouver is no long a direct one.. the connection thru Mexico City sucks.. ( you have to take a red eye and it is always late ) So save your money and fly direct with someone else.. We are...

We recently booked a Sunwing trip to Pearl through sellofvacations. We've booked other trips through them a few times (always Sunwing too) and it's consistently been flawless. Cheaper if you call and negotiate

In general, we always try to book directly with the hotel and airline - it just makes it easier when things don't go as planned (see below). However, for Desire, Expedia always seems to be the cheapest option - the savings are approximately the cost of the airfare (from Toronto).

Cautionary tale:
For our upcoming trip to DRM, we booked a "package" on the Desire website. It was a bit more than Expedia ($250CAD), but we thought we'd support the resort by cutting out the middleman. Unbeknownst to us, the airline reservation was handled by a third party travel company. So when we had to cancel the vacation and later re-book, it became quite an ordeal. To be fair, Desire/OriginalGroup provided excellent service on the hotel side of the booking, as usual. The airline portion was another story. It took me four days to get anyone on the phone to help with the flight changes, and when I did, they were not very helpful. In frustration, I finally called WestJet directly and they straightened it out for me without the travel company's involvement... love WestJet!
