No Ocean View rooms through booking sites?

Booking through Orbitz has always been the cheapest way for us. Looking at our preferred dates in May, the Desire Pearl site (and the availability calendar) shows that there are Ocean View rooms available, which are the lowest category of room. However, when trying to book a package thru Orbitz, Master Suite is the cheapest room they offer. Does the resort simply choose not to let third party sites have access to all rooms?

I don't have an answer, but will be following your post. We noticed some similar irregularities/disparities when we were booking for Valentine's Day.

Technically all rooms at Pearl are ocean view. ie none of them face inwards or towards the back of the property.

Most resorts do limit the number of rooms and what room classes they release to on line booking sites during peak/popular times of the year.

You can now also book a package(resort+air) via the forum directly thru Desire
Just select the "Package" tab when you click thru the link below
Book directly with Desire Pearl

Note: going thru one of the forum links as above will pay a small affiliate commission that hopefully will be enough to help keep the forums economically self sustaining and free for all to use.

I know all rooms at Pearl have an ocean view, but I am talking about the category of room that is actually called "Ocean View Room". Booking a package through Pearl is more expensive than Orbitz (actually about the same price, but we would get a Master Suite booking through Orbitz), and the Pearl website does not offer the airline that has direct flights from our airport (Frontier).

May is one of the most popular months for both Desire properties and at this time of year I would suggest that the the online booking sites have probably sold out of all the OV room numbers for Pearl that where allotted for sale.

IMHO, at this point in time (if you want to go during your preferred booking window) book an OV room direct with Desire Pearl ( would appreciate if you use the forum link) and book your own air .....

If we ever book directly with the resort, we would for sure go through your link. Unfortunately, if booking direct, the room alone costs as much as the package does when using Orbitz, for us anyways.

We found, for our dates in March, the OV category was typically booked full for 1-2 days over our dates, usually a weekend night or nights. So we had to go for the junior suite so as to not change rooms during the stay.

We had the same results on Orbitz and directly on the Desire site through the forum. May not apply to your situation but that was our case this trip.

We booked through Expedia for our May 9th/14th trip. We got a junior suite no problem. Give them a try.

Thanks, but Expedia also only has the Mater Suite. I'll keep an eye on Orbitz to see if the list the OV room.

It definitely sounds like they are not releasing them all to 3rd party sites. Which makes total sense if its a busy time and they know they will sell out. Like you, we use a 3rd party site (Expedia win our case) because it saves us between $500-$600 on the total package. For any date we have looked at this has been true when booking hotel and flight together.
