August Trip questions/concerns

Ok gang. Our virgin trip is less than 3 months away.

We planned the trip for the last weekend in August because we are heading there right after dropping our son at college, and felt this would be the best way to begin our lives as empty nesters. While we are super excited, we are a bit concerned and thought maybe the group could help us with a couple questions:
- How HOT are we talking here? We are used to humidity and love being at the pool. But, is it going to be uncomfortably hot to sleep at night?
- How "sexy, young & wild" are we talking in August? At 50, we don't figure we are exactly what they had in mind when they coined the phrase and we don't want to ruin the mojo of the party. (do sexy young and wild people still use the word "mojo"?)
- How are the mosquito's in August? Wife reacts really badly to mosquito bites and doesn't want the bumps on her legs to be bigger than the bumps on her chest.

Thank you all in advance. We are SO looking forward to the trip. Just want to make sure we are as prepared as possible on what to expect.

We usually travel in August (usually RM) and can provide some feedback to your questions.

- August is hot during the day, in the sun (or when no breeze is present). I don't know how folks can lay out tanning in Cancun in August, but we are perfectly fine chasing shade and hopping in the pool occasionally. Rooms all have A/C, so sleeping is never an issue. Afternoon siesta naps in the heat are actually pleasant, provided you don't wake up sunburnt...

- Sexy, Young, & Wild doesn't make a big difference in vibe or guests with one notable exception. The "Music Fest" week of SYW at Pearl is a true takeover (or at least was in the past). Very different (young, trendy, clothed) guests with private parties and no interest in co-mingling. The playmakers usually didn't seem to know what was happening as the takeover would change theme nights or have overlapping events. I don't know when that's scheduled this year, but check it out if that week is a factor for you.

- We haven't had any issues with bug at Desire, and we've never used bug spray or anything.

We prefer to travel in August, (usually less crowded) generally less storms, the ocean is super warm, and the cost to travel to Mexico is less in August. The crowd is great no matter when you go. Be nice to everyone, and they will be nice to you. Your age is pretty much normal, so you won't have trouble meeting people.
