Taxi to Playa del Carmen?

We would like to explore Playa del Carmen for part of a day while we are in the area. (She wants to see the shopping!). Any recommendations on the best way to get there and back? We would be going in the afternoon and maybe stay for dinner there.

Taxis are available thru the front desk. It will take a few minutes for the taxi to get to the front door. It is about a 40 min ride. Expect to pay up to $50 one way. Taxis to return are readily available in town.

Thanks for the info. Think we will probably catch one in Puerto Morelos. It is half that price.
