So in late May we were at Pearl playing volleyball one morning. I recruited the wife to play in the game to even out teams. Usually she just sits on the beds and reads, watches me flail about on the court, and provides ice water between sets.
Somehow, when a ball was coming toward her it caught her left hand just right and knocked her ring off (full disclosure it the first wedding ring she got from me which she wears when she doesn't have the bridal set) in the sand. We stopped the game but couldn't immediately find it. Finished the game and then spent about an hour with the playmakers and lifeguard combing the court looking. But we couldn't find it.
Wife was, of course, distraught. I was relieved it wasn't the newer set, but felt for her as it was the original band. We filed a claim on insurance that night and are working through the process.
Fast forward to this past week and every point I'm sifting through the sand for four days straight on the off chance that the thing would show up even after a month. But...it didn't. The staff told me they too had been looking for it each time they played, but hadn't had any luck (which wasn't unexpected).
Until today.
During a work engagement my phone started buzzing repeatedly. Four staff members (playmakers and butler) texting saying they found it and sending a picture confirming it. It turned up on the beach in the volleyball game today. As soon as it was spotted they plucked it out of the sand and started to reach out. Wife literally teared up when she got the messages. We'll pick it up when we're back in a few weeks.
Thanks to the staff for being so amazing and continuing to look over the past many weeks.
