Pool temp: old topic with an update?

Postby b723641 » Wed Jan 26, 2022 6:20 pm

As newbies, we are unfamiliar with the water temps at the pool at Pearl. Older posts suggest hit or miss...and often on the chilly side. Anyone there recently with maybe an update? (For this husband, "it feels warm once you get in" doesn't cut it. Wifey is the opposite -- fine with 60 degrees. Bringing her own heat wherever she goes.

The "fun side" with the bar tends to be very comfortably warm. The "quiet side" on the other hand, can be wildly cold. Learned this the hard way by playfully throwing my better half in to the cold side before knowing it was the cold side on our very first trip. She learned suddenly, then so did I... specifically my face. My face learned, though it wound up feeling more hot than cold.

Thanks. So...I gather the warmth of the sun alone does not cut it for the pool water. One side -- the fun side -- is warmer -- from earlier posts -- 'cause the management apparently uses a pool cover for that side to lock in the effect of the rays. Caliente in Tampa is also a coldish main pool. What were they thinking -- no heated poll in a tropical resort setting? I guess I'll be on the "fun" end at Pearl for most of our wet time.

FYI we are members of Caliente and although the main Lagoon pool is not heated the smaller pool, the conversation pool next to the hot tub, and the two small pools are heated.

I should have clarified that -- the large pool as unheated but the smaller pools heated. The smaller were quite crowded when we were there...and everyone seemed focused on each other. Like a takeover. We did feel left out...though it was our first time in that kind of setting. Also -- the larger pool was hands-down visually more inviting. But not one person in the pool for the time we were there. March 2019.

Have to say in October not much difference between the fun and quiet side. Still takes a while to acclimate when moving from 85 degrees to cool water. Of course you can warm it up

Yes March is a tough month for pools the temp. can vary quit a bit. We were there New Year’s Day and opted to go in one of the smaller heated pools. The bigger heated pool was too crowded for us. The big lagoon pool will probably be off limits for a couple of months for us. The wife won’t go in our pool unless it is at least 80.
