Pool/beach beds?

Do the pool/beach beds have the top covered? Or are they open to the Sun?

Also, how much fake baking (of whatever type) is recommended in advance to avoid full body sunburn? (I’m half Mexican, but my abuela was a fair redhead, and my otherwise are all blonde with Northern European light eyes and pale skin so I know I will burn without prep before the trip.)

We bring a couple of cans of spray waterproof sunscreen sp50 and never had a problem. Cheapest at Sam’s or Walmart.

The top of the beds have a fabric covering…however there is still sun exposure from the sides of the bed.

Yes they have tops and curtains on the sides which you can adjust but exposure is still real. The Mrs. is always the palest person at Desire every trip (too many basal cell surgeries back in the day), so she brings 1 tube of 70 SPF per day. She loads up in the room before we hit the beds and then applies 2-3x a day throughout and never even close to an issue. Bigger brim hats covering ears and shading face also a big help for her.
