Has anyone noticed since this Am the hotel prices have doubled and in some instances tripled since our last visit in April ....

The prices are really interesting this year but I would expect it to level out as the deferred demand build up from COVID disburses. We booked two trips to Pearl at the beginning of the year fortunately when demand was quite a bit softer and I was looking at the numbers yesterday and was astounded by the rates, especially for the weekends. But they are just making hay while the sun shines. Normally We have seen steep discounts for unallocated rooms in the current or upcoming months at this point in the calendar for. That has not been the case for this year at all.

March 2021, we stayed 3 nights at Desire Pearl and paid $823USD altogether. Nowadays, it's that much PER night.

Time to book Grand Miches. Prices are half or less than Cancun.

We are curious about Grand Miches, but it’s harder/more expensive to get to because of airfare and a longer shuttle ride. It also seems more restrictive on the clothing optional front. From what we’ve read, clothes will be required on the beach and pretty much everywhere except the playroom/pool/jacuzzi. At Desire, we like being able to leave our room without any clothes, walk on the beach naked, go to CiCi’s naked, and just walk around the resort without clothes. Grand Miches seems more restrictive, but we will see what folks say after it opens.

Yes but for us airfare and transportation is double Pearl.

Airfare depends on where you you coming from. If you are from Texas or west, yes it is more expensive. We are in Florida, so it about the same. I agree the shuttle will be long.
Looking at maps of the resort, it is a smaller foot print. Walking around the resort naked shouldn’t be a problem. Everything is around the pool. Yes, the beach will be swim suit area. I am sure there will be ways around that. Dominican law is different than Mexico. The beach looks to be much better than Mexico.
Having Temptation next door will be great. While that is something we don’t care for anymore, we do like to get crazy sometimes. 2 more pools and more restaurants. More people to mingle with.
The new experience is enticing. Plus the price. $300 a night for the Desire experience is priceless.

Not sure about the beach restrictions. Several years ago we went to Caliente Caribe in the DR and naked beaches . Outstanding experience but sadly gone...
