We just got back a few days ago. The Sargassum is as bad as we've seen it.

I read an article recently that said the sargassum would likely be as bad as it's ever been this summer.

We just returned form a May 20 to May 27 stay. It was bad but they were working heroically hard to clean it up. The day we arrived, the sea barrier broke and ended up trapping a lot of the grass inside the beach area. It got progressively better every day. We just enjoyed the pool and had a great time anyway. The full resort made up for any issues with the beach and the service was fantastic!

Came back yesterday. Sargassum was pretty bad. Was in DR last summer and every bit as bad there. We were a little worried about it before arrival, but as soon as we turned the corner...saw all the beautiful people and a really nice pool...we pretty much forgot the Gulf was even there.

Basically the beach is unuseable. Nothing resort can do. It's natural...they try...they are losing the battle. Again...and I can't say this enough...don't sweat it.

It was our first trip there, and we are currently booking a return in Dec

Oh boy, that's disappointing. I would have to agree, that's the worst I've ever seen it. We arrive in 10 days. It's obviously not going to magically get any better in 10 days. That sucks.

We got back a couple weeks ago. It was BAD, worse we've seen it.

But we wanted to go in the ocean. So we took a 5-10 minute walk down the beach to the Bob Marley hotel (the next one down the beach). The water there was crystal clear blue, and no seaweed.

Sure... You have to walk down there, and you can't be nude. But we've got a pool. We care about the beach and ocean on Pearl trips.

LOL a lot of people call it the "Bob Marley" hotel, but I think it's Romarley? https://www.romarleybeachhouse.com/

We just got back on Tuesday and it seemed to be getting better. They have the beach pretty clean in front of our resort… but it’s still pretty piled up on either side. Depending on the wind, you get some of the smell.

We did the catamaran/snorkel trip and had to navigate around seaweed for snorkeling… but they took us to some clear blue water to swim in… we recommend doing that if you want to enjoy the water while you’re out there!

We arrived on Sunday, June 26. It was pretty bad. Bad enough that we were a little embarrassed to show our friends who came with us. We had built up the resort as this awesome thing and then got down to the beach and it was stinky and very covered up. Not the first impression we hoped Mother Nature would make for them. However, by the time we left on Thursday, June 30, it had really cleared up a lot. So much so, that several people got in the water and it was much clearer. Sometimes even if there’s not a pile of it to step over, the water is still brown and gross. That wasn’t the case on Wednesday and Thursday this week. It was clear enough that quite a few people got in the water and there was almost none on the beach.

With all that being said, there’s really no way to time your trip. You never know what storm comes in or wind blows, or whatever. When it’s bad, we’re definitely disappointed, but there’s nothing we can do.

We were there two days ago.

Stayed in the OF Mansion with a view of the beach and the seaweed is bad to the left of the pier. They are pumping water and have the barrier to clean it up and it was pretty good inside the barrier. Beach was pretty clean inside the resort area though.

We arrive next Tuesday. Here's hoping that it has minimized - would love to spend an afternoon on the beach, but the smell keeps us poolside.

It was very good last week early in the week. The last 2 days there was some buildup but overall the beach looked good.
