Pearl Virgins with Newbie questions

We are Pearl virgins arriving in mid-October. We love tanning all over and excited about the new adventure to Mexico and Pearl. We’ve been to the Grand Lido, Couples San Souci in Jamaica. We did adventure out while at Grand Lido on a day/night pass to Hedo and have been to Caliente in Fla., so we are not virgins to public sexuality. We have a few questions:

1) How does Pearl compare?
2) It’s been 20 years since we have been to Cancun. At that time, Montezuma's Revenge was a concern with drinking water, ice drinks & washed uncooked vegetables (salads). We’ve had no issues in Jamaica or the DR. Should we be concerned at Pearl & be prepared with antibiotics and meds?
3) She loves theme parties, me not as much. While we will have fun & participate, we may not be prepared nor want to dress up all 7 nights we are there. For those not in the theme night costumes, what is the general attire?

We excited and looking forward to this new adventure, meeting new friends, tanning all over and being a wee bit naughty. Thanks in advance for any incite from the pros and we will proudly wear our “yellow bands!”

1. Can't help you there as we haven't been to any of the resorts you listed ;)
2. The resort keeps each room well supplied with bottled water, and all ice machines used bottled water as well (think office water cooler jugs). We don't gulp down glassfuls from the bathroom sink or anything like that but we do use tap water to brush our teeth, etc. Never had a problem. Water can smell a little sulfur'ish at times but that's no different than being in the Fl Keys either.
3. If you aren't doing the theme night the attire can run the entire gamut. I've seen people in dress clothes all the way to jean shorts and tank top. We tend to dress a little more up vs down if we are skipping a theme but to each their own. Just be comfortable so you can socialize and get your dance on.

What are your dates (Never mind, I see it now.). We'll overlap by a few days, see you at the pool :) You're going to have a blast!

Hidden Beach at Sans Souci is A/N, not C/O, so you will see people with bottoms and sometimes even tops on. There is NO PDA at Sans Souci. As you are still in the Caribbean, there is a little bit of "soon come, mon," but generally staff/maintenance will be more efficient than in Jamaica - just go with the flow. I think you'll find food/drinks about the same, with Palazzina compared to Aphrodite and Casanova compared to the other restaurants at Pearl. As this is more subjective, YMMV. The grounds at both resorts are well maintained, but the rooms at Pearl are showing their age, particularly when compared to the refreshed rooms at Sans Souci. We have not been to the "new" Grand Lido Negril, but did visit Grand Lido Negril when SuperClubs managed it, and sadly, when is was going downhill, so if that's your point of reference, then Pearl should stand out. If instead your reference is Grand Lido Braco, then I think pretty comparable (again excluding when SuperClubs was bailing out). Pearl is much smaller than all the other resorts, maybe double the size to the A/N side of Grand Lido Braco, so you will see the same people multiple times, so easier to get to know others. SuperClubs did not allow tipping and we saw people fired for accepting. As I recall, tipping was very discrete at Couples, but did happen, particularly if staff went out of their way for you for some reason. Tipping is not required at Pearl, except perhaps with the pool chair guys, but is appreciated - you'll find guidance/debate on the Forum.

We'll have been there for a few days already. We head out the day or two after you arrive. Can't wait!

Q1 I can't really give a definite comparison but the rooms are nice enough and the food was good. The vibe at pearl is very easy and fun, we have been there several times and will be back.
Q2 we were very concerned about the water as well, our only areas that we were careful were showering and brushing our teeth, we drank water from bottles and did drink drinks with ice in them and had no issues.......maybe we got lucky?
Q3 we did not always dress in theme but the misses will definitely be dressed seductive and scantily, certainly clothing she could never wear any where else. This is a must for us.

Just don’t drink any water from the tap and you will be fine. The ice is all brought in from offsite, fully purified and safe. Purified ice is round with a hole in it.

One more question for the Pearl veterans, we enjoy and drink Gin & Tonics like beer. Do they have Tanqueray or other floral gins, like Seagram's, Hendrix? Dry gins like Bombay or Beefeaters does not work well,

Yes, lots of interesting floral gins from Puerto de Indias and others.

Made me chuckle: my mid-morning go to at Desire is a G&T with a NUUN caffeinated electrolyte tablet -- dry gin is ok for that application since the electrolyte is berry flavored. Always put the tab in your glass AFTER you get the G&T in case the bartender decides to wash your glass.

Hi, question on Sans Souci … at hidden beach, how much does the couples staff enforce no pda? Is it live and let live, or will they stop all pda? I know it’s an A/N beach and not clothing optional / lifestyle, but was wondering what sans souci like.

Also, how do you physically get a day pass at Hedo? Can you just walk up from the beach or do you need to go to front desk or book online?

Thanking you in advance!

The main issue at these kind of resorts may not be staff. But other guests will likely bring it to staff attention if they see behavior they consider inappropriate or offensive, and the staff will have to act. You have to respect that the majority of other guests will choose these resorts precisely because they have the reputation of a very straight, nude environment.
