Water filtration

This might sound random, but we haven't been to Desire or any resort in this part of Mexico before. I am aware not to drink the tap water, and that we can easily get bottled water there to drink. My question is about the showers, both in the room and by the jacuzzi. Is that water filtered in anyway? Let's say we want to shower and then do oral... is there some risk? Is that like drinking the water? (Sounds dumb as I type it, but I honestly don't know the answer. We're usually cruisers, where all the water on board is considered potable. Having just recovered from the norovirus going around where we live, I'm a little extra on hygiene right now.)

We use the tap for rinsing toothbrushes and all and never had an issue there. But they also supply you with ample bottled water in the room too.

Bottled water is available all over and I believe tap water is filtered, but you can still get "unwell." Happens to me about every third visit and I expect it's from lettuce/salads. I now always have Cirpro with me. If I start to feel a little green, then I take a short regimen and, well, that very cheap medication is amazing. They have it over the counter in the gift shop (very expensive) and pharmacies (don't know cost) in Mexico, but you need a prescription in the US.

You probably are being a bit over cautious worrying about oral contact after a shower, but definitely only drink bottled in Mexico. And the previous poster is probably right about salads being a slight risk, because I doubt they wash lettuce with bottled water.
I travelled frequently all over the world on business and we had a saying about eating when in less developed countries ‘if it isn’t cooked and you can’t peel it, avoid it’.
My doctor recommends taking ZPacks when traveling, ‘just in case’ and I think most doctors are usually very happy to prescribe it for this purpose. Ask your doctor for a prescription and keep some on hand if you travel frequently. Z Packs are very wide spectrum, short course, long lasting and effective for many common infections. And they have little or no serious drug interactions. Hitting it with a double dose on the first day, then just one a day for a few more days typically works for Z Packs.

My husband and I have visited Desire and other hotels/resorts in Cancun several times over the years. Every time we go, we have some sort of GI (gastrointestinal) issues. We do not drink water from the tap; only bottled water. I don't want to get too TMI or gross, but we usually have some post-digestion issues while in Mexico. (If you want, I can tell you more in a PM) It's usually nothing severe, although I have had a bout or 2 of emesis in the past.

Because it happens at practically any hotel in Mexico we've visited, I suspect it's from the ice cubes or maybe the water they use to wash the dishes and silverware.

We do not have these issues at home. In fact, once we get back home, the GI issues resolve.
