Deluxe Ocean view Room or Junior Suite - which is the (I hate to say it) cheapest? Also, which is the most quiet and 'private' building, if there is such a thing.

Oh, and great map, CokeMann.

Deluxe OV is the least expensive room category and unlike the RM location, IMHO we found all the Pearl buildings to be quiet since they are all away from the main lobby and disco.

In one of my earlier postings in the Desire Pearl FAQ section I posted a map and room category listing that we use for our YNOT group trips to Pearl that may be of use to you.

Many thanks for that, Coke.....I had seen the map of the resort layout, but hadn't seen the room category breakdown. Together they are exactly what I was looking for.

We just booked a Master Suite. Simply because with the promo they had, it didn't cost much more than a Junior Suite. Regular rooms were sold out 5/23/ - 5/28.

smpm wrote:We had a fabulous "regular" room on the second floor in the middle of the resort. From our balcony we could see the ocean and the hot tub and it was never too noisy. The room and the bathroom were very large, and we were very happy with it. The location was very convenient to everything. I cannot remember offhand the room or building #, but I've requested it for our return trip in April. I'd be happy to post the room number when we get back.

Great to hear you enjoyed your room and location. We will be at Desire Pearl in March so your April won't help us too much. We'll do the 'Express Check In" on the site, put in our requests and keep our fingers crossed. So far, none of the Desires have let us down. Thanks anyway. :D

CokeMann: What is a "plunge pool" you mention in your map and list of rooms? Thanks in advance for your response.

They are small(two person- maybe four if you are really friendly) private unheated pools located just outside the rooms that list them as a feature.

They aren't that small... We were very comfortable at 4, and probably could squeeze in another 2 :D
In Oct/Nov there were definitely heated as well - much hotter than large jacuzzi....

would any one have any input on the building names (a name guide of sorts)..for instance some one in a earlier post mentioned "seahorse building"...? I looked at the map of rooms and building (it is really good but no mention of building names)

Those building names are a "left over" from when the resort was Ceiba del Mar - as far as I know Desire Pearl management just uses the building numbers as on the room map.

We were there in March and had room #31 and loved it. Close to everything, nice size of room, and quiet at night. Not a master suite, but we did have a party in one for one night, and it was VERY nice. Only good however if you are "entertaining" that way there are two separate rooms to play or meet. Either way, all are nice rooms.

On each building there is a 'motif' that kinda helps signify which building you are staying in. One building has a shell on it, one has a turtle on it, etc - for us, it really helped up find our room at 3:00 when the brain is a little foggy. :)

We did the express check in on the Desire site and loved our room. Just a regular, standard room but much bigger than either of the other Desires, and the toiletries where a very nice touch - they even supplied us with toothbrushes and toothpaste! We had a tub and a shower in the bathroom, coffee maker, lots of closet space, nice little two person deck where we could seen the quiet end of the pool and a bit of an ocean view through the palm trees. We loved it!

Miranda, what room were you in? It sounds great! Was it ground floor walk - out? We were thinking this is the way to go because you could easily get into your room during the day to use the washroom or just to get something that you forgot or just to take a power nap if you need one!! OR a little quick play time! OR maybe just go to the jacuzzi area for that!!
