Just got of phone with resort and was told they have a new policy for WIFI it is free now around the resort if you bring your own device or they can rent you something to use if needed. With what they charge to stay there this is a nice freebee.

Management should consider lowering the price at Pearl. It's on the pricey side and there are a few problem areas that have to be fixed. Lowering the price would increase occupancy solving that problem.

We were there in March, and the WiFi sucked big time. Only in one corner of the room, and it was better outside the room. The lobby was the best place by far. I guess it's not their fault, at least what the manager explained to us. It is free, but only use it the odd time and you'll be ok.

Interesting comments above, it appears some peoples glass is always "half-empty"! If it's too exensive for you then don't go, you have other options within a few miles. If paying a few bucks for the internet bothers you, don't log on! Seriously, you might actually enjoy your vacation if you don't worry about such insignificant things. But, who the heck am I to judge, it's just my humble opinion as I tend to immerse myself in the environment and enjoy every minute possible with my beautiful wife! We meet such wonderful people who truly make our Desire vacations such memorable times that we go at least twice a year.

We were at Pearl in Feb, and paid for the wifi. the wifi sucked! You cannot compare Desire RM to Pearl. We have been going to Desire RM since it opened with well over 10 vacations there. As many guests have pointed out Pearl needs help. Compare Pearls late night pizza to RMs. What's Pearls average occupancy rate. There is much management could do to improve Pearl. It has the potential to surpass RM.

We do enjoy our vacations and work hard to stay at the better places ,which include wifi with the price,apparently Desire had alot of request for wifi from clients and travel agents and they agreed to make the change. As for as insignificant things we are both self employed and need to check emails, house sitter etc and wifi is part of our world,we booked this way back knowing we had to pay for wifi and now it is included with our stay so bravo desire for listening and keeping your income source happy.Now you know my humble opinion.

Yes, Bravo indeed for Desire listening to their guest, they have adjusted certain policies to keep up with the times and stay competitive over the years! I certianly understand the need to stay connected and with technology as it is today, it really isn't difficult to do such. Many options available, some at a price and some not but that wasn't my point. We (my wife and I) work hard during the year and look forward to our trips to Desire where all we want to do is leave all the pressures of life behind us and focus on just US....no distractions. We have been together for 9+ years and still thoroughly enjoy spending lots of time together. We don't sweat the small stuff and understand Desire is not a 5 star resort so whether the late night pizza, that we love at RM, has not been mastered at Pearl or the internet is spotty at best, it certainly won't impact our incredible vacations! I know, different strokes for different folks! The ability to go nude if we so choose, enjoy hot tub time, meet some great people, laugh like teenagers and party like rock stars for us is the reason we go to Desire.

So, no offense intended, just trying to offer a different perspective!

The atmosphere hasn't quite made it to Pearl yet! Pearls potential will only be realized when management decides to spend some money. We visited Pearl for one day last July. Spent a week there in Feb. Very disorganized! Many couples jumped shipped and went to RM.

Just a bit of perspective from one couple that has been at the original Desire since the year that it opened - 10 year ago, believe it or not

If you wanted to see "Very disorganized!" you should have been at Desire RM for the first several years after it opened. That's right, management has had 10 full years to listen to guests and groups, imagine, renovate and tweak what was a very run down older resort into what we know today as Desire RM

Remember Pearl has just been a Desire property for barely one year now and management has already, in that year, spent a ton of money with the new Jacuzzi, new Disco, new playroom and major restaurant renovations.

Is Pearl it perfect, no
- has management stopped listening and planning for further improvements - no
- is Pearl supposed to be just a duplicate of Desire RM - no
- does Pearl have the vibe of Desire RM - no - but can have if the right group of people are there...

So my thoughts are - if those of you didn't care about Pearl you wouldn't even be vocal about issues re Pearl on the forums.
But lets keep the discussions focused on what needs improving and changing(not just bickering/bitching) and with that maybe those little irritating grains of sand can help make a real Pearl..........

Someone asked about the wifi I commented! As I said Pearl has potential. Pearl needs to increase occupancy in order to reach that potential. There are several minor improvements free wifi was one of them. Lowering the price is another. Personally I think Alessio (Pearls manager) is out of his league. It's not like Pearl is Original Resorts First attempt at operating an adult resort.

We stayed 3 nights in the beginning of April. We paid for 3 days of wifi and were told that would have to pay cash($45). The gentleman set up our iphones and the service did not work in our room. We returned to the desk and wanted to cancel it and get a refund. The person we paid wasn't their and there was no record of our payment. We went back the next day and found the person and he agreed to return our fee but we would have to wait until the next day. It was obvious that he kept the cash that we paid. We did get our refund eventually and used the free wifi which worked just ok around the resort, not in the room. The lobby was best.
Checking the different networks available, the free one had a signal no different from the pay network.

I believe that is the reason they made it free was because the pay network wasn't working correctly.
