For men that don't dress up for themes what is their standard dress attire?

Well, depends on your style, most guys either wear nice jeans or dress plants along with a club shirt, polo or long sleeve shirt. Remember, dress to impress, while the ladies rule the night, they do like to see men dressed nicely.

I've been online shopping for myself, and have been eying a pair of sheer black linen pants for my husband. . . is that too far out there for the fellas???

You only have to worry if it is too out there for your fella. It's your vacation. Dress how you like. When I didn't dress in theme I wore clothes that I would be comfortable in and/or something my wife would want to see me in - so I wore boxers one night, or sheer briefs another. I saw one guy wear a kilt. David wore a tux one night.
