Hello:

No doubt this has been covered in the past, but we want to spend a day at RM during our December week at Desire Pearl. Wondering how it works about meals, will there be pool chairs available, etc. Is someone on staff at Pearl willing to make a call to set us up? IIs there a better day than others? We would have lunch there. but return to Pearl for dinner. Thanks in advance for any input/tips!

I am sure you won't have any issues during your day trip to Desire RM. You will have your lunch and your chairs. No reservation (special calls) are required.
Last December we visited Desire RM during the night time (to have dinner and to stay after (till about midnight)). Everything went well: great food and service, good entertainment, and wonderful guests! If you visit during weekend there could be longer time to wait for your table for dinner (b/c of more guests). But if you are visiting them around lunch time I cannot foresee any problems.
Just take a cab ($15 one way) and you will be there in 15 minutes. To go back take a cab as well.
We would not recommend to walk back to Pearl (some shore spots are full with trash - not pleasant!).
Back in April 2012 when Pearl was just opened we decided to walk from Desire RM (where we were staying) to Pearl as a part of physical exercise. It took us about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
We took a transfer going back to Desire RM (it was free of charge back at that time).
