Beer/ drink selections and other questions.

First timers couple going in May . A couple of questions, first what is the beer selection like? I love Guinness, but doubt they would have it. Next, my wife is a Black Velet drinker. Do they allow couples to bring in their own bottle?

Next, how hot is the water in the hot tub? What airport transportation does everybody have the best luck with? We would like to go straight from the airport to the resort. Finally we have no interest in the timeshare sales pitch, how high pressure is the pitch?

Less than 3 months to go, hope to make new friends and enjoy ourselves. We will be the "wide eyed" couple with their suits on, for a while.

If the time share gig is like the other desire resorts we've experienced, simply tell them "not interested"...
They will sit you down to tell you about weekly themes, resort layout, restaurant schedules, etc., which is important and all good; and then they will hit on the member meme.

At that point we just tell them, "thanks, but no." Some like the members stuff, we choose to forego.

The hot tub is comfortably warm but not hot. Perfect for winter late afternoons and into the night in Feb.
The sales pitch was minimal and not pushy. A simple no thanks upon arriving and it was over.
The resort is definitely CO/topless and definitely not nude. No one will care if you keep your swimwear on.

Hi!
Of course you can bring your own bottle, they're not going to object to you not drinking their liquor that you've already paid for LOL x
As for transport, book it through USA Transfers (they have a website), smooth efficient private transfers, there is no other way!

For Transfer - we would book with Canada Transfers - They are cheaper and offer cold towels & cold beer on the ride to Desire!

They have a great selection of premium top shelf liquors and if she is a blended whiskey drinker I'd assume they have something like Seagrams VO or Canadian Club on hand.

@ C2C - they aren't cheaper if you are going to Pearl and the cold beers do come at an additional charge.

Just thought I would clear up any confusion, Canada Transfers is actually more expensive than USA Transfers if you happen to be going to Desire Pearl
and if you are a Canuck you will also have to pay Canada Transfers in USD only.
btw - anyone can purchase beers or soft drinks from a stand just outside the terminal for about $1 US each.

See Comparison Below:
USA Transfers 1-3 PAX Just click on this link it will take you directly to the correct booking page Image
to Desire RM OR Pearl (same price either location - same price to pay in either USD or CAD )
    One Way $35
    Round Trip $60
------------------------------------
Canada Transfers 1-3 PAX
    Pearl
    One Way $35
    Round Trip $64

    Desire Riviera Maya
    One Way $30
    Round Trip $55

We land at 2pm on the 10th. It will be interesting to see if you are still wearing the clothes at that point :) Our first trip too. The mrs usually wears a string at temptations so no big deal for her but for me it will take some getting used to, maybe a day or two :)

The terminal beer stand was $6 for a Corona last October, perhaps we are not good at haggling................

Reserved our transport from the airport to the Pearl resort and back through USA Transfers. Easy and quick website to use, got a conformation within minutes of our request. So that is taken care of. Does everyone use the express check in on the Resort website? Looks like it can be used a couple of weeks before our arrival. Just wondering if it saves time.
Thanks everyone for the information.

Just looked at USA Transfer Web site and Pearl and RM are no longer the same price. (They were last year). Now Pearl is listed in Puerto Morelos (at $40/$69 1-3 pax). RM is listed as Bahia Petempich (at $35/$60 1-3 pax). Just a FYI.

On the bring your own booze question - not a problem at all. We bring our own wine, first time we kept it in the room and brought it to dinner each night.

Then we met a couple who brought their own Vodka & Whisky and learned that the Bar held it for them and even shifted the bottles through the day from Pool to Hot-tub to Lobby bar as they moved through their day.

So on our second trip (and the next, and the next) we left our wine with the restaurant and they kept it in their 'cellar' - asking us late afternoon which bottle we wanted with supper so it could be brought to the correct temperature.

(I know I sound like an ass - but I'm really a nice easy going person)

We can confirm that Mr G is NOT an ass and Mrs G has a nice ass...... :D

Also, they were generous enough to share their wine with us one evening and it was lovely!

It's not polite to not share with everyone in the room. ;)
