How bad are the mosquitos this time of year? We arrive a week from today, just curious as to if we need to bring repellant. If so, what do most people use/works best?

I've got repellent in the pile to be packed for our trip first week in June. If we don't need it, great. But, if we do, we've got it. I'd bring it - better to have it and not need it than be wishing you had brought it with you.

Mozzies can be a problem, they do "fog" at Pearl, but the little blighters love me! Always seem to get bitten while on the jacuzzi beds, just as the sun goes down, which ironically is my favourite time there. I always take repellent with 50% DEET, chemical warfare is the only way to go! It does melt your manicure though ladies, so I take latex gloves for when we apply in the evening.

They were literally non existent my whole trip until the last day, 5/4/14. That last day it rained, the ocean breeze calmed down, and they were everywhere!

Just as an FYI we did find out upon our departure that in the Spa area they sell repellent. WE recommend they move the display to the gift shop or advertise it a little better. Personally we didn't have a problem over 4th of July last year and did not use any repellent but there were couples that did literally get eaten alive.

I have seen in a Cabela's ad that they have mosquito repelant wipes that are 30% deet. So they would be easy to pack and use. Im sure you could order online ,if there isn't one close.

We brought repellant with us, but never got it out of the suitcase, and my wife gets bitten if there is one mosquito in a 50 mile radius. I would recommend brining it just in case, but they are really no worse than where you live.

We always bring mosquito repellent with deet to the caribbean...but rarely need it. I once got dengue fever from a mosquito bite in Jamaica...better safe than sorry! It is not fun to follow up a vacation with a hospital stay.

You definitely needed it at the end of last week. Hope for windy days as that keeps them away but 2 days in particular when there was no wind it was really bad. 3 days when it was really windy there was no issue. Definitely bring the spray.
