Taxi from Cancun to resort?

Hi Folks. Just booked our trip to Pearl & not sure if we should book a taxi now via the Pearl web site or wait until we reach the airport? Is it safe to just roll up & try to get one? How much does it cost?
Only 7 months to go! LOL

USA Transfers (use the link here on this forum) comes highly recommended and we've reserved with them for our first trip coming in Sept.

Apparently, the taxi situation at the airport is a bit chaotic with timeshare and other scammers trying to get you to go with them. I would be leery of picking someone at random in that situation. Having someone there that you are already signed up with seems like a good idea to us.

Fellow Brits! Don't just rock up and expect not to get ripped off. Highly recommend booking with USA Transfers (use link on this site). Always safe, reliable and cost effective. Approx $60 round trip off the top of my head.

Take a taxi !! 450 pesos and 300 pesos back aprox. But you must tell them what you are willing to pay don't go with the first price they give you.....

These are two different animals and a correct answer depends on knowing where you are starting from....

I was talking of airport to desire....that is why first way is more than the second back to airport.

FYI - a taxi from Desire RM to the Cancun airport, at the current 2014 posted taxi rates, is 450 pesos (or for those that use USD =$45)

Also, fyi normal taxis are not allowed to pick up fares from Cancun Airport.

Current taxi rate one way from Desire RM to Cancun centro or the Cancun HZ is 450 pesos or $45 USD depending on how you pay

Taxi rate from Pearl would be a bit higher - you can check the current rate at the resort, it's usually posted just at the lobby entrance from the driveway.
