Can anyone that has been there recently add any info. about the new oriental restaurant? I was informed that you can no longer book that location for a private dinner because soon it will become the new oriental restaurant. I'm wondering if they are going to enclose it or how they can design a restaurant up top like that? Has anyone seen any initial drawings or mock up photos? Apparently it is supposed to be complete soon...

we left Tuesday morning and they had the roof on nothing done on the sides yet.

I'm assuming you are referring to the space above the Aphrodite? We were there Aug 5th - 11th and we had dinner in on top of the Aphrodite....they had mentioned something about making that spot into a lounge or something but nothing had started at that time. All I know is our dinner was awesome and it was an amazing view looking out over the ocean and enjoying the breeze!!

I did mean the top of the Aphrodite Rest. That will be an oriental restaurant and it is supposed to be completed by Sept. 15. Glad to hear the roof is up! It will be so nice to have a 3rd venue for dinner. My guess is they will put up glass walls for a great view! Hoping!

OK, you got me.... Just returned from our 1st Pearl trip after 4 DRM trips. I definitely missed the staff and guests from DRM from our earlier trips. One of my "negative leaning" comparisons between the two resorts was the fewer Pearl restaurant choices. The addition of a roof top restaurant over Aphrodite knocks it out of the park (the sushi tables overlooking the mosquito pond were not so much)! Now if they get a decent vibe going in the pond replacement area and air condition the lobby outstanding!!!! Still will have to do some DRM time on split trips.

Victor told us it was going to be a sushi bar when we asked him about it during our visit at the end of August. We saw them hauling heavy beams in...by hand!... So it's all of limits due to construction.

That was always the intent for that space - they even tried it out(temporarily) a couple of times when we where there shortly after Pearl opened.

That's great news as one of the drawbacks we had was the number of restaurants that are typically associated with all inclusive resorts. We'll be back:)

Hoping there is similar food to the Suki at RM?? We do not eat sushi...i know we are probably the minority but I love the spring rolls at RM and all the other tasty dishes. I was told "oriental"....not sure if that is only sushi....hope not.

I love Suki at RM...so I am really excited about this! Hope it is up and running for our November trip. Thanks for the info.

Wondering if anyone who has returned recently can comment if the restaurant was completed yet??

We've just came back, and it's not done yet, they are not making too much progress since the construction crew only works on certain days (Mon-Thurs?) and after 4pm, seems that they dont want to disturb the guests using the pool, also by having a small group working on it

We just got home and were told it will be Sushi type restaurant at night and used by Original Resorts Member program during the day. Its all done except for furniture, there is glass around the edge, hard to see in the pics, Also told closing in the lobby next then the fish pond, we'll see!
