This, exactly. We had dinner with here2benaughty and another couple about halfway on their last night there and had no idea about the extra wine list before they mentioned it, or the extra entrees available, either. I was a little surprised that they hadn't pushed them as well. I realized afterwards that the list was always there up on a display inside the door, we just never picked it up and looked at it.

I was alright with the house red - it wasn't the greatest, but I've had worse, too. I might consider bringing a nice bottle for one night, but probably wouldn't pack a lot. We drink a lot of cocktails though - love a good martini - so that helped distract from the wine. :)
Have a great day! Hope to see you in the future.

I don't know if RM has the same wines as Pearl (I suspect they do) but when we were at RM last week they had a wonderful Sauvignon Blanc. I believe it was Arananta or something like that. Server told us is was from Spain. Light and fruity. We drank it all week and looked for some in the airport to take home but didn't find it. They also had a nice Rose and a Shiraz my wife enjoyed. We were very pleased with the wines at RM.

On a related note, one of the servers made us a drink with a local liquor called 43. Good stuff if you like sweet, banana flavored liquors. Nice after dinner drink.

So the red wine is a decent Shiraz? Which one? Another red options? What's the house champagne and is that generally available at the pool bar? theol oOny

I have been drinking the house wines all week...most people have a house wine with dinner. I have not heard a single complaint about any of the house wine here.

Sorry, don't remember the name of the Shiraz. I believe there was only one as my wife asked for the Shiraz and not a specific one.

If anyone remembers the name of the Spanish Sauvignon Blanc please let us know. We'd like to try to find it but can't remember the name. It's something like Amaranta or Amanata.

Here's another tip. If you like coffee drinks, order the Mexican Coffee. It was excellent. Coffee (duh), Tequila (of course) and cream and maybe one other ingredient. If you order it in the Buffet restaurant, they will make it table side. You can order it in Sahlo but he couldn't make it table side because of the low ceiling since there is fire involved so he made one for us next door which I thought was a nice thing to do.

BTW, the service at Desire RM all week long was fantastic.

Amaranta was the brand name of the cabernet I believe.

Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot are the two I have tried.

Just for levity, I suppose that one should not expect to find Grgich Hills Estate and Stags Leap Cabs either at all or at a reasonable price.. 8)

Coincidentally, my GF and I just had a Stags Leap Cab last night here at home and joked that we hoped the wines at Desire would be as good.

I would expect the wines to be confident with the premium nature of the resort and the price points...maybe it's not the case; on the other hand, I thought the red wine (I think there were two options) at the Italian restaurant at Temptations this summer was more than decent. I would expect the wines at Desire would be superior to the wines at Temptations, consistent w the upgraded liquor.

Stags Leap is a seriously nice wine, and we enjoy it occasionally on special occasions. There really is a difference.

I expect your expectations will be unfulfilled. The house wines are very ordinary and often served too warm (at least the reds are). Bring your own.

I'm pretty sure I'll take at least 4-6 wines and a cpl of bottle of champagne...and maybe buy a fine, sipping tequilla at duty free for the room.
