Late Checkout

We leave Cancun at 1am on March 1st. I assume we have to check out of the hotel around noon. Has anyone had experience with late checkout or what will the hotel allow us to do until we head to the airport around dinner time?

We packed our bags and took them to the front desk, where they held them until it was time to leave. We took some clothes to the spa and put them in a locker, then hung out by the pool, had lunch, drinks etc. When it was almost time to go we went to the spa and took showers, dressed in real clothes and prepared to leave.
