Thinking of walking the beach to town for lunch one day. Has anyone been to a restaurant they remember and recommend?

No need to go to an offsite place but we did attend the Little Mexican Cooking School (twice) where we made and ate our own delicious Mexican creations.

We really enjoyed El Merkadito. It was recommended to us by staff at the resort. Just walk towards Puerto Morelos, and before you get to the pier structure, you'll see the restaurant. Small sign from the beach steps up to the deck. Delicious and fresh ceviche, all sorts of good stuff at a great price.

If you do a search you'll find we asked the same question ahead of our October visit. We headed out for El Merkadito one day but ended up at El Pelicano. We had a fantastic time. Food was great. A musician was playing while we ate. I wish we had ventured out of the resort more frequently. Puerto Morelos is a neat little area. Enjoy your trip!

We agree with here2benaughty. We like the Pelican restaurant at the southeast corner of the main square.
