Restaurant Recommendation
Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2015 12:32 pmMy fiance and i will be coming to Desire Pearl for our Honeymoon. Can anyone suggest a restaurant away from the resort that we should go to one of the nights?

Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2015 2:02 pmI can't wait to hear the replies ... I imagine that most will be "Why go anywhere else?" or "You won't want to leave!" There aren't many restaurants around Pearl, and our ride to the hotel district, where there are a few nice places, was at least 30 minutes and $35 or so one-way, if I recall correctly.

Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2015 2:20 pmIt's an easy stroll into Puerto Morelos, turn right from the beach and walk until you get to town (probably better to do this in daylight for lunch than in darkness for dinner). We loved eating at El Merkadito. There's an entrance on the beach, just before you get to the town dock area. Delicious, fresh seafood, cold beer... life is good. Lots of other restaurants in Puerto Morelos which I'm sure others will suggest. No reason to head back into the hotel zone in Cancun for dining away from the resort. Short cab ride to PM.

John Gray's Kitchen
,etc however if you are looking for more choices and something a little bit more upscale consider Playa del Carmen(40 min taxi ride south of Pearl). Playa is much more laid back and enjoyable than the Cancun HZ and the restaurants there are generally very good to great.

Posted: Fri Mar 13, 2015 5:02 pmOr you can do as me and my wife did and have a dinner for just the 2 of us on the pier. Food, wine and service was great. Highly recommend it, one of many highlights of our trip.....

Posted: Sat Mar 14, 2015 4:07 pmI think it depends on the number of nights there. Five or more, I suggest you visit Playa del Carmen per Coke's recommendation. The limited menus at the two Pearl restaurants get a bit repetitive. Peruse Trip Advisor for lots of reviews on Playa restaurants to find your style and price point.

Posted: Mon Mar 23, 2015 5:41 pmWe love the Peruvian Ceviche at My Paradise Bar, just about 10 minutes walk along the beach. Unico Bar also has good food, and El Merkadito is great too. There are a few really fun nice restaurants in Puerto Morelos.
www.vivapuertomorelos.com is good for getting the lay of the land if you are feeling like heading into town.
Puerto Morelos is a nice town and the pescado frito is not to be missed - fresh catch of the day, battered and fried, .. yum!!
