Charlie has been at the Pearl since it opened. We love him dearly and are sad to report that he was sideswiped by a car while riding his bike. His right arm is broken and the swelling has decreased enough that they are now able to put a cast on.
He will be off work with no pay for the next 5 weeks.
The resort is 100% filled so the activity staff are now residing in the company house in Puerto Morelos. It is no secret that Charlie and Kia are a couple. If, like us, you consider Charlie a friend and not an employee, then any financial aid could be sent through Kia.

Update: the latest information is that management will give Charlie 1/2 wages. Good for them!

I'm sorry to hear that about Charlie. We just met him a few weeks ago. Super nice guy. I'm glad they are doing that for him.

On our last day at Pearl, Charlie was in control of the microphone while Kia, with her limited English, ran the water aerobics. He also managed to beat Donna at the corn-hole bean bag toss game while doing it left handed. So Charlie is at the resort, just some what limited in his activities. Certainly no beach volleyball for Charlie from China.

Hey Cokeman, Is there any way that you, or any one else, can find out if there will be a contact for a donation fund for Charlie while he is out of work ?

From the above posts it looks like he is now back at work in a limited way .......
