We are thinking about splitting up our week, 4 days at Pearl, maybe 3 days at Secrets Vine or Maroma Beach. We are newbies and are thinking that's a little safer. Anybody else do this ? Any guidance ? What are the pros and cons ?

Only advice I can give you is do Secrets first, then Pearl.....otherwise if you do Pearl first you won't want to leave after 3 days. Have a great trip!

The CON: your going to kick yourself for not staying the entire trip at desire. Its that good.

The PRO: Maybe a little cheaper on the pocketbook.

A better combination would be to do 4 days at Pearl and 3 days at Desire RM

Our first trip to Desire, we did 2 nights at RM and then 4 nights at Sun Palace. Spent the whole time at Sun Palace wishing we were still at Desire.

Agreed - definitely do the Secrets part of your trip first, Pearl to end the trip. That way, you can do something about those nasty tan lines you acquired at Secrets - the horrors !

Last summer we did a 15 nights vacation like this:
first 3 nights at Hidden Beach Resort. Nude 90% of time, very bad beach, so we walked 3,000 ft to find a nice spot at a desert beautiful beach where swim in the nude. Too quiet environment; service and food not as good as in 2012. We won't back again.
Next 8 nights at Desire Pearl. Exact lenght of stay; we could enjoy each one of the seven thematic nights and day activities, including two tantra yoga sessions, the best of them; when food was near to be boring, we were checking out.
Last 4 nights at a "privileged honeymoon suite" in Royal Catalonia Tulum, an adults only resort with one of the best beaches in Riviera Maya. 60% of the price than DP. Both of us were in a very daring mood, so my wife wore a micro tanga and topless all the time we stayed at beach and wore some sheer or very short clothes without undies the rest of the time. She even made some wicked mischiefs like tease a waiter pretending not to notice her blouse was open at dinner, showing her tits every time he came to serve us; or waiting room service naked on the terrace, coming into the room when the waiter was setting the table, acting naturally, for his surprise! Of course these dares don't work in Desire.
This year we have diferent plans for vacations, but probably in 2016 we'll do something similar, now 8 nights at DP, 6 at Catalonia.

When we were planning our first trip to Desire RM we were thinking of doing the same thing - split the trip between Secrets Capri (Maroma wasn't built yet) and Desire. People on the message boards advised us just to go to Desire, and the more we thought about it we figured we'd probably regret leaving Desire for Secrets mid-week. So we cancelled Secrets and spent the entire week at Desire and had a great time. We have been to Secrets Maroma. Fabulous resort, incredible beach. We went with another couple and enjoyed it. But if we had gone alone it wouldn't have been so great. Difficult just getting people to say hi to you. We met a few couples but it just isn't the same. Agree with the above posters - just stay at Pearl. But if you do split the trip, go to Secrets Maroma first for 3 days and then to Desire Pearl.

We've stayed at Secrets Maroma and Desire Pearl and really do yourself a favor and skip the Secrets Maroma part of the trip. Go directly to Desire Pearl. I agree completely with honeycouple, if you do Pearl first, you won't want to leave to go to Secrets and if you do Secrets first, you'll regret you didn't stay at Desire longer.

Secrets Maroma is a nice resort but it's not close to the fun and service you get at DP.

We have a timeshare at the Mayan Palace and last year did a week there and then a week at RM.. This year we are at Pearl and doing it the first week then a week at the Grand Mayan. After a week at desire we need a week to rest up before reurning home.

Like Alan49, we have memberships at another resort (H10) located 1/2 way between the Pearl and DRM. Still have 13 all inclusive weeks to use up but we have no interest in going back to this large, family orientated resort. Maybe when we are older (much older!) or start giving weeks away to friends and family.... The Pearl is our home away from home.

We're first timers and decided to do the regular/Desire combo. Celebrating our honeymoon and birthday. We are getting ready for our second night at Zoetry. Then off to Desire Pearl tomorrow for 4 nights and then RM for 3 nights. A bit of nervous anticipation, but really excited. We'll let you know next week how the plan worked out.

Just a quick update. We've been here for almost 30 hours. Everything everyone else has said seems to be true. Amazing staff, really good food, and friendly people. Gerry, our 'butler' has been fantastic. We are staying in one of the penthouses. The view is phenomoneal and the room is second to none. I feel like I'm heaping superlatives, but it has been great. There's a private dinner in the sushi area tonight, so we're doing that tomorrow. Going to do the snorkeling "booze cruise" tomorrow. If we had to go from this to Zoetry, we'd be really disappointed. Agree that if you're staying multiple places, do the others first, but leave ample time to be here, or you'll be sad. Definitely will be back!!
