Which day you arrive and what time will play a big part in how long from the time you deplane until you arrive at Pearl. We usually are there in about an hour. Even if your room is not ready you can begin to enjoy the resort immediately. They will store your luggage and you can use a locker at the spa.

Allow 20-30 minutes for customs, luggage pick up, and depending on how you travel to DP, most people would book a private transfer (you may click the link in the website to book USA transfer), it takes about 25-30 minutes.
Rooms are normally not ready before 3:00 pm. But you my take a walk in the resort, or have something to eat in the restaurant.

As previously stated it really depends on the day and time that your flight actually lands in Cancun
The worst backups(baggage, immigration, customs) typically occur if your flight lands in Cancun on a Saturday/Sunday between 12 noon and 3pm local time. Delays from touch down time to actually getting out of the airport to get your transfer can be as bad as 2 + hours. The actual transfer time from the airport to Pearl is generally about 30 min.
If you want to get an idea of how bad it could be just look at the forums real time
Cancun(CUN) Airport Arrivals-Departures page where you can see all the planes that may be landing at the same time as your flight.

Even if you arrive early and your room isn't ready, the front desk will help get you registered and can store your bags for you until your room is ready. This means you can go get some food, or hit the pool or beach even if you haven't had a chance to unpack yet. Consider bringing some of your daytime essentials, e.g. sunscreen, etc in a carry-on or given liquid rules on planes, pack them somewhere easy to find without having to dig through the rest of your clothes etc. On our last trip, we arrived around 12:30-1pm and if memory serves us, got into our room sometime between 3-4pm.

YES, you can arrive early to the resort. If there is not a room ready they will hold your luggage at the front desk in a secure area. Head to the pool and start your day.
iF you are going to wear a bathing suit bring it with and change in the restroom adjacent to the restaurant serving lunch.
We are staying in Puerto Morelos the night before we arrive and plan to get to the resort before 10am. We already confirmed this is not a problem.

It took us one hour for our Sat July 11 5:30pm landing, connect with Tourex (transfer service that was part of our travel agent booking) to arrive to DP. We were in the jazuzzi by 7pm.
Our friends arrived the morning of Sun July 12 and it took them 2.5hrs to get thru customs vs. our 30 minutes. They were not so lucky. Whatever the case, when you arrive, you usually have to wait for your room...sometimes 2pm, but usually 4pm. Room or not, they will hold your stuff and you can jam to the pool or whatever. You will soon forget all about the wait for your room. Time is useless there and often you forget what time it is....because you spend every second enjoying yourself.

Arrived for our second trip to Pearl last May at noon. Our room wasn't ready so we left our bags with the bellman and changed into our suits in the spa. The suits didn't stay on very long but our room was ready before 3:00. No problem. We liked arriving early as we felt like we didn't lose a day travelling. Have a great time!
