We would appreciate it if anyone who is at Pearl now, or just returned, could let us know about the seaweed situation? And is all the work on the pool and piping finished after the wall was built?

The seaweed is bad, as it is all through the Caribbean Sea. Don't bother thinking about swimming out sided of the pool. Which is finished, ready to have the heat turned on this winter. The lobby is now under a renovation: the new marble flooring was started yesterday. The gift shop will be moved to the space between the lobby and the spa, a jewelry shop will be put into the space of the present gift shop. The lobby bar has been blocked off and is being dismantled. It is temporarily located out side of the Pearl restaurant. A new, larger bar is going to be built. The ceiling of the lobby is being closed in, new lighting and duct work for the air conditioning will make the lobby more comfortable. Alessio said the new lobby furniture should be arriving next week. The one ton lobby chandelier is gone. "The Lady" statue is temporarily outside the Pearl restaurant until the flooring is finished, at about 1/6th of the lobby per day. Also, the bar outside the main pool is getting a make over also.
For those guests who wish to do the photo shoot, the photographers have set up shop inside the library.
For those guests who have visited the Pearl many times and did not know there is a library, it is located to the right of the spa entrance.
Hope this helps to keep every one up to date with all the changes that are going on. Alessio wants everything done in the lobby before the Halloween takeover.

David and Donna, it was nice to meet you by the pool over the weekend. Your comments are spot on. I was getting ready to respond but you beat me to it. I have a couple of pictures of the construction if I can figure out how to post them.
The pool bar will be getting at least a partial makeover since the wood that supported the roof collapsed during the night recently when they had some high wind. Currently they have up tarps to shade the bartenders.

EYE WITNESS REPORT!! ........

The swim up pool bar roof came down while we were there (Sept 16). A major rafter broke and the entire roof was dismantled in a couple of hours that morning. Not the wind .... gentle breezes overnight. Two workers had been on the roof the day before Mexican Independence Day to string red, green and white banners across the pool. Speculation was they damaged the roof while dismantling the decorations.

Updates:
- Pool bar roof is non existent
- Pool wall completed
- Pool is much warmer than last year... Not sure if they are heating it yet?
- Lobby is a disaster
- NO seaweed at the moment!!

I have photos taken this morning, but can't figure out how to post here. I posted a link to some beach pics in a thread I created. Can post others if people want to see.

Just checked out the pictures in your link. Beautiful shots of the beach. Having been there a couple of months ago at the peak of the seaweed event we can't believe that it has disappeared. Thank you for putting them up.

Looks great! Well minus the tarp over the pool bar. Some of the best pictures of Pearl I've seen. The beach looks to be back to normal and the water looks clear again. It looked like coffee when we were there. Lots of room for people to walk by again to check out the guests. Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the photos 2curiousppl. Alessio posted photos on Facebook of the clean beach and turquoise water. He is undoubtedly happy, but not as happy as the 3 workmen that have been slogging all day long, day after day, shovelling all that seaweed off the shore.
