Crossover question

First time to Desire Pearl. If I understand correctly, you have privileges at both resorts? Sorry...I am sure this is posted somewhere in the 1000s of posts :)

Currently, if you are staying at one Desire property and wish to do a day visit to the other Desire property, it is $150 USD per couple per visit.

Does that cost include transportation to and from?

No, you have to arrange it yourself but its easy, just grab a cab to/from and it's in the $25 USD range each way. The bellman or front desk will call the cab for you when you are ready.

We missed one of the classes they had during a special promotion and allowed us to go to RM to attend the class the next day for no charge. While we were there we did grab a bite to eat and a drink or 2 and didnt have an issue with it. We just asked politely and they called over. We also asked if they dont end up purchasing the property at the end of the lease what do they do with the membership folks and it was explained to us you get transferred to RM. They allowed some other couples we met that way as well. I by no means want to tell you how to skate the system its just a way to say ask when you get down there and see what they say. Its nice to have a comparison of the resorts. The worst they can say is no and it cost you the extra to see it. We sometimes pop over to the RM roll call and chat with some folks and want to go meet them while on vacation as well. Its worth it either way.

If you go to the membership presentation you get a booklet afterward with a lot of coupons. One of the coupons is for a free day pass to the other Desire Resort. You would just have to get a cab. The booklet also had discounts on many other things. We got an erotic massage for 1/2 price and I am thinking regular price was about $400 USD. So, if you want to see the other resort and don't want to pay, I would recommend doing the membership presentation.

That is of course, if you don't mind losing at least 1 1/2 hrs of your valuable vacation time listening to an aggressive sales proposition .....

We didn't think it was that bad. We had a very nice lady. Then she brought in the shark so to say as we told her we weren't interested. They actually made us a great offer. They were going to pay for our current trip, plus our 1st trip back. It was actually very tempting, but when you have a kid going to college soon and know you may not have the funds to go in the near future, we opted out. He was pretty stern, but when he got it that no was no he pretty much just turned around an never gave us a 2nd glance. lol. We never would have spent $400 on a massage, so the coupon book was what made it possible. And I might say it was AMAZING! :D

To humor the gentleman that did our 'pitch', we gave him our full attention and acted semi-interested. At the end we told him that we were going to pass. Then he brought over his 'manager'...a younger lady. She was VERY aggressive to the point of saying "if you can't afford it, you should have told us". I tried explaining to her the difference between being able to afford it, and not wanting to do it. I finally had to get up, shake the guys hand and tell him how nice he was...and tell her that she needs to work on her people skills.... We spent a little over 2 hours of our time there.

Guess I missed this topic! What's the deal with the lease/purchase??? I'll check the other forum areas, but I don't recall this issue popping up

@tikihutguy - when Original resorts took over the former Ceiba del Mar - the arrangement with the owners(of Ceiba del Mar) was a five year lease with option to renew the lease or outright purchase the property.

Guess I do remember that. Time flies eh? Hope they give us advanced info on what the plan will be :D Would hate to lose such a magical spot  I presume since they are doing well and receiving awards for their efforts this will not happen....
