For anyone who is currently at DP. Any early update on the Jacuzzi rehab ?

They closed the Jacuzzi at 7pm on Saturday 12/19 It was fully drained by midnight. Before we left on Sunday they had in place a tarp over the whole thing and it was clear they were getting ready to start removing old tile. Everyone we talked to said they planned on working hard to get it re-tiled on schedule. I can't say if that means working through the night but it wouldn't surprise me.

They moved the beds to the area around the bar-end of the pool. At night there is a large canvas wall that splits the warm (bar) end of the pool from the cold end. They also installed 3 trellis-like panels between the bar and the beach. All of this is to give a sense of privacy during nighttime "activities". They did say that PDS is allowed in the temporary jacuzzi area.

I think they did a reasonable job trying to make the best of a bad situation but, in my opinion, the temporary jacuzzi definitely lacks the vibe of the original. The fact that the pool water is luke-warm rather than hot was a deal breaker for us at night. Pool temp was perfect during the day but too chilly for our taste once the sun set. Your mileage may vary.

We have heard it would be open by 12/25 which I believe is Friday.

One lady we met cut her toe last month and it's too bad because it's such a buzzkill when that happens. Apparently this happened a few times and I guess it was time to finally make the major repair. It is something that you're wary of when you're there because people tell you to be careful with loose tiles. It will be nice to not have that be an issue on our next trip.

Happy to report the jacuzzi reopened Thursday evening, and was ready when we arrived yesterday afternoon! We hadn't seen it before, but it looks great now!

That is great to hear! We were rookies the last time we were there and a little timid. We are looking forward to some fun times starting tomorrow when we arrive.

Fantastic news that the jacuzzi is back in action, one of the best spots for the evening. Great place to meet new people. Can't wait for June to arrive.

Looks just like the old one, except without the missing tiles.

The wife and I arrived the day after it closed and left the day they were set to open it. We really missed it. We knew how much we liked the jacuzzi vibe, but didn't know just how much. The pool was never even close to the same vibe. We had a really nice and relaxing vacation, but not having our nights end in the jacuzzi and getting to make those special connections really cut down on the sexy level of our stay.

We're jealous of all who are getting to enjoy it right now.

Did they install hand rails on the steps ?
