We heard that you are not allowed to be nude on the beach in front of the resort at Pearl. Have the rules changed ?

We were there in February and had no problems.

Same in January 2016 during ISM.
No problems either anywhere along the beach.

Here now. Never heard that. Just a vicious rumor.

What about up and down the beach, off the resort's property? Is the entire length of beach C/O, or just in front of DP? Is anything topless? We often decide to take a walk after napping on the beach. Just curious if and how much we need to cover up for a stroll.

From our recent experiences, we’ve walked naked 1000 ft northbound from DP pier, until the University investigation facilities, and 1,800 ft southbound, until the end of the vacant lot.
Regarding topless, we’ve ventured 1.2 miles northbound until Melia Paradisus, and 1.1 miles southbound until Puerto Morelos inclined lighthouse. I tried to convince my wife to walk into the town and visit some stores, but she didn’t dare, so we turned around and came back.
13 years ago, we walked topless from Desire Riviera Maya until Puerto Morelos; then we took a taxi and made the way back to the hotel. It was a long 4.3 miles walk under the noon sun heat.

I don't think u can be naked off resort property, not sure about topless. There was a couple last year about .75 miles down the beach toward town. A security officer literally ran them down and told them to put clothes on. Poor security dude....

We were just there this week and you most definitely can be nude on the beach in front of Pearl. When we walked in the direction away from the pier a bit there are a couple of cute little bars, but we put bathing suits and cover ups on and were glad we did because there were a ton of kids (I for one and my husband do not feel comfortable being nude around children - personal preference, please don't bash). We did have a ball at the second bar and will do it again when we go back in October.

Hi "Yankee". We also walked down the beach twice. Did you go to Unico and My Pleasure? If you like seafood try El Merkidito next time. We eat there at least once each trip.
BTW, good job in the competition. Of course, we voted for a fellow Texan!

We just returned and that was our favorite spot to lay out nude! Great breeze!

I would say as a matter of respect you should only be naked in front of the resort. The beaches in Mexico are not clothing optional and there are children and families that vacation there. Also when this resort first changed ownership it was very controversial, I would hate to see the resort lose the ability to have a nude beach because of complaints of guests being nude in other areas
