We were considering going to Pearl (Master Suite) in December. Rate for 8 nights is $4900. That is about the same we paid in July. Then we decided January might be a better month (after the holidays). For the same room class for 8 nights, the price jumps to $6,100!!! So then I checked February and got the same rate as well. I checked each month, and the price stays the same until May.

So I'm wondering if I just hang for a while, will Desire put on some sales for 2017 or is this really what the rack rate is planned to be after first of the year.

Thoughts?

Think you jumped to high season rates. I know it jumps around then and drops around May.

We just booked our first trip for Feb 28, 2017. 6 nights with direct air from Chicago for $1465/person. Booked on travelocity. That is a garden view room though. Just FYI.

There is no rate increase - all you are seeing is the difference between regular low season pricing and regular high season pricing that occurs at most resorts in Mexico and elsewhere

Low season pricing for the Desire properties is in effect May 1st thru Dec 24th

High season pricing for the Desire properties is in effect Dec 25th thru April 30th
(note: the week Dec 25 to Jan 1 is even higher)

Wow. So looks like I have to make some decisions pretty quickly. Either book something quickly or I have to wait until next May!

So, I am hell bent, on a mission to find a killer deal to DP that I just can’t refuse between now and mid Dec. (The July trip totally hooked us!!!).

I thought I had found something on CheapCaribbean.com. 5 days/4 night with airfare to DP from Atlanta with a Master Suite (we were spoiled with the Master Suite and don't think we would be happy stepping down) for $3,262.52.

Then I went to the Desire Pearl site and Delta site and I could pay rack rate for $3,438 – not that much of a savings.

So, if anyone knows of any way to get a killer deal (it would take a killer deal for me to book for 2016) let me know.

P.S. I might add that the CheapCaribbean flights that they offered put us arriving at Pearl at around 9PM and the flight out was about 8AM. So we really end up with only full days to play. Booking myself, I could get to DP before noon the first day and leave around mid-day the last day.

Just checked Orbitz using their current coupon code TRIPLOVE (15% off) and 4 nights master suite room only works out to $2091 Nov 25 to 29 for example.

Thank you two so much just saved another $150 and was able to move my booking from kayak to orbitz which we prefer!!!


Looks like that photo album just got $150 cheaper !

No sweat. I'm always comparing prices. I usually book through this site when I do the room and flights separately but any time we can save $$$ is a good thing and I'll book wherever.

That worked! One thing I noted though - If I select Air and Hotel and perform a search, Desire does not come up as an option (even without any promo codes). If I do the exact same search but remove the Air option, then Desire shows up. So, if I were to book through Orbitz - even without using a promo code - I would have to book air at some other site? Not a big deal but just seems odd to me.

Scuba, you can book both. Just put Puerto Morelos in the "flying to" area under Flight / Hotel and desire will come up. I ve booked flight and hotel together on here as well. They have a deal as follows for packages that works. Only $100 off though.
